WTTW-Ch. 11 will air a one-hour documentary, "Anti-Semitism in the 21st Century: The Resurgence," at 10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8. (rebroadcast at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10). The PBS program traces the dramatic resurgence of anti-Semitism in many parts of the world barely 60 years after the Holocaust. It graphically tracks the historic roots of the hatred and its introduction to the Middle East a century ago, and it demonstrates how long-discredited themes such as the Blood Libel and texts such as "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" have become central yet again. Drawing upon original footage seldom seen on mainstream television in America, the program offers the perspectives of a wide range of analysts and commentators.
"This is an important and timely documentary on a deeply troubling contemporary phenomenon," said Michael Kotzin, executive vice president of JUF/JF. "It provides chilling evidence of the emergence of a new anti-Semitism, with hostility toward Israel and its supporters at its core."
