Swastikas found in Brooklyn

Swastikas were found in two areas of Brooklyn on the first two days of 2008.On Wednesday, a large swastika was found painted on the door of a Brooklyn senior center, which also doubles as a synagogue. An anti-Semitic phrase was also painted there.

A day before, two swastikas were found painted on a home in Borough Park, the Brooklyn community with the highest concentration of Holocaust survivors in New York.

"It's amazing that 60 years after the Holocaust, we are still dealing with people who paint swastikas," state Assemblyman Dov Hikind, the son of a Holocaust survivor who represents Borough Park, told the New York Post.

Blogmaster's retort : When NY State Assmblyman Dov Hikind remarked in amazement that swastikas are still being painted on Jewish homes and Synagogues in New York, he has obviously forgotten his days standing next to Rabbi Meir Kahane (OBM) (MURDERED IN NY BECAUSE HE WAS A JEW) and his personal days in the Jewish Defense League. I guess the memory fades as you climb higher on the political and social ladder!

In his latest diatribe, Father Rydzyk denounces Poland’s President, Lech Kaczynski, as a “fraudster who is in the pockets of the Jewish lobby” and accuses the Polish Jewish community of “grafting $65 billion from Poland" under the pretext of “Jewish pogroms” in the 1930’s saying, “They will come to you and say, 'Give me your coat! Take off your trousers! Give me your shoes!'"

Given the remarkable achievements of the last decades in Catholic/Jewish relations under the great leadership of Pope John Paul II and the similar direction followed by his successor, Pope Benedict XVI, it is inconceivable that Father Tadeusz Rydzyk be allowed to use his radio pulpit as a means of inciting people to bigotry and hatred – a bigotry and hatred that flies in the face and violates everything that Vatican II stands for.

Father Tadeusz Rydzyk is not merely an individual. As a Priest he speaks for the Catholic Church and it is the Church that must discipline him. Now is the time for the Polish Church to act decisively.
