While Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is refusing to explicitly endorse a two-state solution to resolve the Palestinian conflict, participants at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee Policy Conference will this week be urging their elected representatives to press President Barack Obama for precisely that....

...In this year's lobbying effort, to take place on Tuesday, the AIPAC thousands will be asking their congressmen to sign on to a letter addressed to Obama that explicitly posits the need for a "viable Palestinian state."

Vice-President Joe Biden encouraged the acceptance of a two-state solution. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich "blasted the Obama administration for setting itself on a collision course with Israel and endangering the Jewish state." However, he also "added that creating prosperity among Palestinians was important, and that the US should be helping their leaders grow their society and crowd out Hamas."

Why? So, they will be strong enough to build a state?

Sorry, guys, but we "Jews" already beat you to it. Two thousand years in galuth (the diaspora) has trained us, all too well, in the art of co-dependence and self-destruction.

The Israel Project Against Torah

"The Israel Project is a new national non-profit, non-partisan educational organization devoted to ensuring an accurate portrayal of Israel - a democracy where all citizens have freedom of speech, press, religion and a right to vote (except for Torah-observant Jews).

The Israel Project was founded by three American mothers who were (way too) concerned (and culturally co-dependent) that Israel's image in the media could cause an increase in anti-Semitism at home and abroad." (In other words, be worried about what the goyim think of Israel, than what we think of ourselves.)

According to halachah (Jewish Law), non-Jews have severe limitations on their rights to reside in Israel, and have NO right to vote, let alone to rule over Jews, even on local councils or in the IDF.

Israel does NOT have freedom of speech for those dissenting with government opinion, to which The Israel Project aligns itself, whether just or unjust. Leftists may do whatever they want in Israel, including entering Hevron and other parts of Yehudah and Shomron (Judea and Samaria) to incite the Arabs to riot and destroy agriculture projects and property.

Furthermore, The Israel Project supports the inclusion of non-Torah-based "Jewish" groups and "clergy" in Israeli society, a further watering down of the Torah-based society in which Jews are obligated to live, leading to the even destruction of everything identifiably Jewish.

Aren't you proud to be an American Jew? Organizations like these used to make me cower in shame. But then I realized something. Most of their members may be Jewish, but the organizations and certainly their ideas are not.

Does that sound too harsh to you?

Think about it some more, and you'll realize why I call them American un-Jewish organizations.

Chazon David. Many people are familiar with the name of the small synagogue just off the main road leading from Kiryat Arba to Hebron. Constructed some seven years ago after the murder of David Cohen and Hezi Mualem on the same day, the place of worship was to eternalize their memories.

I fled from the office a little early today because our rooms and the halls are being painted. I was speaking to one of the painters just before leaving, telling him that I’d spent the day working on the events occurring at Chazon David. He looked at me rather dejectedly and told me that on that day some seven years ago, he had sent David Cohen to buy some building material. Cohen had just arrived at the western gate of Kiryat Arba when an Arab car drove by and opened fire. David Cohen’s car was hit and he never had a chance.

Later that night the Kiryat Arba local council met and decided to protest the opening of a roadblock which had allowed the killers to easily escape. They met on the road by the western gate leading from the Ramat Mamre (Givat HaHarsina) neighborhood (now closed). Arabs saw them there and notified some terrorists who opened fire on the men in the pitch dark. A few men were hit, but Hezzy Mualem, then a councilman, was killed, dying later that night in the hospital. I remember him well, as he was a true community servant. Among other things, he drove an ambulance and once took my wife and I to the hospital while she was in labor with one of our children.

The synagogue’s name hit the spot: Chazon (for Hezzy) David (for David Cohen). In English the name means ‘David’s vision.’

In truth many people were unaware of the synagogue’s existence. However it did not escape the always present eyes of the Israeli version of Big Brother. It was labeled a ‘ma’achaz.’ ‘Ma’achazim’ are usually defined as ‘hilltop settlements’ but the fact that this site was on the road in between two Kiryat Arba neighborhoods made no difference. A ‘ma’achaz’ it was declared, and a ‘ma’achaz’ it was. When the government decided to prove to the United States that it really meant business, Chazon David was place on the black list; a ‘settlement’ to be exterminated.

Word filtered down: the site is to be destroyed. It was a few days before Passover. Who has time, only days before the holiday, to worry about a small synagogue? Well, it seems that many many people in Kiryat Arba and Hebron cared very much. When the huge tractors arrived in the middle of the night, they were met by a large group of concerned people, men, women and children. Of course the security forces used much force to keep them away from the actual site and stop the destruction. The road from Hebron was closed and I had to run up the hill to reach the synagogue. When I arrive the bulldozer was in action. It was a terrible site, seeing a synagogue being razed. Had it been a mosque, Israeli security forces wouldn’t have dared to implement such a solution; but synagogues are less important than mosques, at least in the view of Israeli decision-makers. Down it went, plowed into the ground.

Since then the synagogue was built and knocked down countless times – between 30 to 40 times. But, surprising or not, for the past three years it stood undisturbed. Prayer services were held every day, including the Shabbat. Torah classes were also conducted there.
But, as soon as the ‘piece talks’ started thawing out, Chazon David was remembered: an ever ready sacrifice to be slaughtered on the altar of pacification – pacifying the White House and its surroundings; in this case, Ms. Rice.

We thought the time had come last week, but when word leaked out and over 100 people showed up, ready to take on the troops, the government backed down, albeit temporarily. However it seems that last night they saw that the time was ripe. At about two o’clock two policewomen in civilian clothing showed up at the guard booth at the western gate and without a word stole the guard’s security radio and telephone. A little while later the troops showed up, sealed off the road from Hebron and closed the Kiryat Arba gate, surrounded the synagogue, removed its furniture, books and holy articles, and again, plowed it down. By the time I was able to get there it was gone.

But it won’t be gone for long. Kids already started laying the foundation for the renovated synagogue. Of course, when the police realized what was going on they brutally chased them away. But not for long. The kids will be back, as will the adults too.

There are two kinds of visions: Bush’s vision is based on temporal results, like the Nobel Piece prize or saving his legacy post-Iraq. There are those who buy Bush’s vision, like the former editor of HaAretz who asked Condi to ‘rape Israel,’ forcing us to ‘make piece,’ including numerous ‘painful’ concessions.’ Others, like the current Prime Minister, thought that Bush’s vision would save his hide from an Israeli court and maybe even a jail cell. And the list goes on and on.

But the Bush vision is very nearsighted, seeing only as far as his nose, if that far. Acquiesce to Arab terror is as far from a true vision as is possible. Nothing could be farther from a vision founded on truth and ideals. That’s the difference between Bush’s vision and David’s Vision – one total sheker, that being falsehood, and the other being total Emet, that being truth.

Which David? Take your choice. David Cohen and Hezzy Mualem surely had a vision, to live a life of authentic Judaism in their land, building Eretz Yisrael for the Jewish people. But so did their namesakes – David, King of Israel and Yehezkel (Hezzy, for short), King of Israel, both of whom were righteous leaders of their people. Despite the fact that they lived thousands of years ago, their legacy, a real legacy, still lives on today. Their inheritance, as well as the legacy of David Cohen and Hezzy Mualem, as personified by the Chazon David synagogue, will exist long after Bush, Condi and their so-called vision are far gone.

I don't know what Hashems plans are but it seems that we (All of Kallal Yisrael) must be doing something wrong if our own people are causing us to be vomited from the land as it says in the Torah. "You must follow my laws in the land or be vomited from it"! It seems that Hashem is keeping his promise. It really doesn't matter also if we are in Eretz Yisrael or in the Galut. We are not acting with Ahava to each other. Our own people are selling us out for reasons that are incomprehensable. This is why it must be Hashems Hand in all that is happening. I can only Pray and hope we can all prey together for Torah to return to Israel and for Hashem to forgive and perge our sins and allow us to be moral, healthy, happy in the Land Hashem gave to Jacov and Yisrael and we should fullfill Hashems desire that we be a "Light among the Nations".

Police are investigating the desecration of hundreds of graves at a Jewish cemetery in New Brunswick.

Menachem Simcha's name means "happy occasion" in Hebrew, but his daughter was anything but happy when she saw what vandals did to the gravestone of her father -- a Holocaust survivor -- and hundreds of other gravestones at Poile Zedek Cemetery. "It's horrible, it's just horrible. It looks worse than any tornado that came through.

I've never seen devastation from a natural cause. But this is unbelievable. I don't know how it was done," said Simcha's daughter, Olga Hamilton. Debi Verpent wept as she pointed out her father's toppled gravestone.

New Brunswick police believe that the damage was done in two waves, the first on Thursday morning and the second on Sunday. "It's disgusting how anybody could do something like this. It's unbelievable. He's probably rolling over in his grave," said Verpent.

Rabbis initially believed that these were acts of juvenile vandalism, but when they saw the scope of the desecration, they say it is actually something much worse. "It was premeditated, and something that is either hate or somebody who doesn't understand life," said Rabbi Abraham Mykoff of the Poile Zedek Congregation.

Police say they are exploring several leads that might help them find the vandals. They're looking for surveillance tapes that might have captured pictures of the vandals.

Blogmaster's Note: Police are refusing to list this attack as a "Hate Crime". It would have to be reported to a national database and would detract from the town's image... they don't have Jew haters in New Brunswick... only misguided youth. Interesting how this item was not publicized by any major television news network. Oh, America is so much safer a place to live than Eretz Israel!

That is what I've had to do in recent days, my friends. I have refrained from taking the time to post because I have beeen at work on a major report on Fatah, and determined that this had to come first. Documenting the fact that Fatah is neither moderate nor a viable partner for peace, it has been timed for the arrival here of President Bush. Once it is up on a website (it also is being printed hard-copy), I will share a link so all may see it.

For now, I would like to include at the bottom of this posting one particular piece of information included in the report that is very pertinent to Fatah's true intentions. You will not see this in any media -- it was acquired via someone doing private translating from PA radio. Even without the body of my report, it tells the story that must be told.

And so I return to the on-going news, at least beginning to deal with the morass of information that flows to us.

I do this mindful of the fact that tonight New Year's Eve is celebrated in the N. America and elsewhere (while in the main ignored here), and that many of you may be away from your computers. And I do it with wishes to all for a good 2008. Wishes? My most fervent prayers, actually.

Two beautiful young men -- David Rubin and Achikam Amichai -- from Kiryat Arba (a Jewish community adjacent to Hevron) were killed by terrorists on Friday, as they hiked in a secluded area west of Hevron. The two, who were friends, were both on leave from an elite IDF unit; Achikam was the son and grandson of rabbis. The incredible, sinful human waste of this!

They were buried Saturday night on Har Hertzel (the military cemetery) in Jerusalem.

According to Khaled Abu Toameh of the Post, some of those responsible for these terrorist murders are connected to Fatah. On Saturday, the IDF arrested terrorists suspected of being involved; they are associated with a militia called the Yasser Arafat Groups -- including the leader of the group in Hevron, Ahmed Abu Sittah.

Please note this from Abu Toameh, as well:
"Fatah activists said the attack may be linked to the faction's preparations to celebrate its 43rd anniversary this week. The attackers, they explained, were apparently hoping to send a message to the Palestinian public that, contrary to claims by Hamas, Fatah has not abandoned the path of armed struggle."

All of this mightily embarrassed PA officials, and PA prime minister Salaam Fayyad went out of his way to express condolences, and to assure everyone that PA security is doing everything possible to investigate and apprehend those involved. There was some announcement about the PA returning to Israel the guns of the young victims, which had been taken from them.

That smacked to me of the sort of typically empty gestures that the PA advances, in lieu of genuine efforts, to show they're "doing something." My report is full of documentation of such gestures, so I'm particularly cynical. I even have a quote from Barry Rubin that "The PA has never really punished anyone for murdering or trying to kill an Israeli..."

And sure enough, by Sunday, the PA was saying that the Hevron murders were "criminally motivated." It was suggested that the attack was the result of a "dispute" between arms dealers, the implication being that the two young Israeli soldiers had gone hiking to sell arms.

The PA security forces in Hevron -- ignoring the fact that Fatah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad had all claimed credit for the attack -- said there was no evidence of any reason for the attack other than that arms dispute. Could make one gag.

And there's more: On Saturday PA Interior Minister Abdel Razzak al-Yahya announced that Al Aksa Martyrs Brigades had ceased to exist. Another effort to show that the PA security was handling matters and had eliminated a Fatah branch that was terrorist.

Well, this didn't sit too well with Al Aksa Martyrs Brigades. First they distributed thousands of leaflets saying they were continuing the armed struggle. And then, yesterday, they called for the elimination of Fayyad, a "collaborator" with the US and Israel.

This dovetails so neatly with what I wrote in my report that I must refer to it here: The prevailing thesis among those who adhere to wishful thinking (and they are legion!) is that Fatah is a moderate foil to Hamas and thus must be strengthened. What I am arguing is that the presence of Hamas as both a political and military strength has shifted the entire Palestinian dialogue to the right -- forced it to be even more radical and even less conciliatory.

Even if -- and I'm not saying it is so, because I don't believe it -- Abbas and Fayyad were sincere moderates, they are beholden to the street and to the other members of their party. And Hamas thinking -- which calls moderation weakness -- has affected all of this. Hamas implies that anyone who doesn't continue the "armed resistance" is a traitor. Who wants to be labeled a traitor?

I suggest that in this climate, true negotiations, which require compromise and conciliation, are not remotely possible.

The PA Foreign Minister Riad Malki has announced that PA security forces have arrested a Hamas cell that was planning a suicide attack; he said they had a videotape of one of the members of the cell detailing their plans. "We confiscated huge amounts of mercury (used in detonators) in Nablus," he elaborated.However, the videotape wasn't shown, Malki wouldn't answer reporters' questions, and no names of those arrested were provided.

These guys have no shame. Of course the fact that Bush is coming next week and the PA has to show it is doing its part for security has nothing to do with this

The IDF -- which has excellent intelligence in the area -- says it has no knowledge of this incident.

This past week, the IDF picked up 6.5 tons of potassium nitrate, a banned explosive material, as it was being smuggled through a checkpoint in sacks that identified it as sugar from the EU. Note: this was stopped at a checkpoint. Six tons would have made a lot of Kassams and bombs.

Abbas spoke in Ramallah today during celebrations marking Fatah's 43rd anniversary. He said the PA would never cede a single inch in negotiations with regard to Jerusalem. And he made conciliatory gestures to Hamas: he called for "dialogue, dialogue, dialogue," and held out the hope of reconciliation (based still on Hamas relinquishing its control over Gaza).

"Friday sermons delivered at the Al Aksa Mosque on the Temple Mount are broadcast on PA radio. On Friday, December 28, 2007 (just one month after Annapolis), Sheikh Mohammed Hussein delivered the sermon. It included the following fabrications and incitement to violence:

“Al Aksa Mosque has become the target of Israeli settlers. They have become accustomed to entering Al Aksa Mosque under the protection of the Israeli security forces. This refutes Israeli claims to protecting our holy places.

“The Israeli authorities are not satisfied with the excavations already performed… [In addition] they have been digging tunnels under Al Aksa Mosque’s foundations and walls, allowing the herds of settlers to enter its squares and gates in their plan to turn the holy city of Jerusalem into a Jewish one.

“I'd like to warn against the criminal Israeli plans for the holy city. We have confirmed that there is a real danger to Jerusalem. The Arab nation should not stand [with] hands folded when it comes to Jerusalem.

“Jerusalem stands for the Islamic history and doctrine that establishes an inseparable relationship between Muslims and Jerusalem. Allah chose us, a nation religiously and historically connected with this land, to be faithful guards to the holy places in Palestine. This obligation drove Prophet Mohammed's followers to arrive here, in Palestine, and spread the Islamic religion. This is the holy land of Allah, and Muslims are only the guardians of these holy places.

"The Israelis aren't interested only in Al Aksa Mosque but want the whole city of Jerusalem to become Jewish. They have confiscated the Jerusalemite's lands, built new settlements in and around the city to isolate it from its Arab surroundings, and have expanded settlements."

“The Palestinians are the defenders of this land. We should face up to our responsibilities and fulfill our duty. Our sacrifices are many; the number of martyrs and wounded is growing. [We see] the destruction of the Palestinian life and infrastructure, the arrests of Palestinians by the Israeli forces. All this will not deter us from fulfilling our duties. On the contrary, they serve as evidence to our willingness to sacrifice for our goals."

Emanuele Ottolenghi has written an important and profound article in the Jewish Chronicle. He has spotted a particularly striking and grotesque aspect of the odious hatred of Israel displayed by an increasing number of Jewish intellectuals on the left. Redefining moral virtue to exclude every characteristic other than being a left-wing personality, they seek to redefine Jewish moral virtue to exclude Jewish nationalism. Claiming to be returning to authentic Jewish values, they therefore purport to speak in the interests of Jews and Judaism by saving Jews from themselves in their reprehensibly un-Jewish embrace of Zionism and Israel.
Thus Jewish nationalism is un-Jewish, apparently, because it promotes war rather than peace (ignoring, of course, the inconvenient truth that Israel is a militarised society only because it is the historic victim of an unremitting war waged against it); and Jews are said to have a duty to be hostile to Jewish nationalism because Jews were the victims of nationalism. This, of course, is so absurd as to be incredible to anyone outside the bizarre thought system of the extreme left; the equation of fascism with national self-determination not only suggests a form of cultural nihilism, since it would make it morally beyond the pale for any people to have its own nation, but is contradicted by the left’s own championing of Palestinian and other supposedly nationalist movements claiming the very same right to self-determination.
More fundamentally, however, these Jewish Israel-haters – most of whom have only a tangential connection with Judaism – reveal by these arguments a profound ignorance of Judaism and Jewish history and ethics (an ignorance underlined by the way they use the salvation language of Christianity to denounce Jewish self-determination). They appear to think that Zionism, or Jewish nationalism, is a kind of colonial neologism that was appended to Judaism in the nineteenth century. But the Jews’ identification of themselves as a nation, and a nation moreover that had its national home in Israel for hundreds of years until the Romans occupied it and threw them out, is absolutely integral to Judaism as a religion. Jewish peoplehood was introduced with Abraham when God chose his descendants to become a mighty nation to carry the divine message; Jewish nationhood was born in the exodus from Egypt; the mourning for the loss of Zion and the longing to return are woven into the Jewish religious calendar and Jewish religious liturgy.
Moreover, the idea that the Jews should not fight to defend their homeland but turn the other cheek is not a Jewish religious concept at all. On the contrary, the Bible makes it clear that the Jews had a duty not only to fight for their homeland, but to destroy their enemies by causing the kind of devastation which the modern state of Israel would never dream of enacting — unlike its Arab enemies, who would and regularly do. The idea that Jews have a duty not to fight for their collective life but instead to surrender and die is profoundly un-Jewish – indeed, it is suicidal by any standard, and no people would be expected to adhere to such a monstrous precept. But for the Jewish Israel-haters, the Jews alone apparently must choose their own destruction as the pre-condition for their moral redemption. As Ottolenghi observes:
Calls abound for Jews to repent, condemn Israel, hear the gospel of anti-Zionism and convert to a new, exciting form of Judaism, based more on Karl Marx and Rosa Luxembourg than Theodor Herzl and David Ben Gurion. So is the rush to heed them. With antisemitism rising across Europe alongside violence in the Middle East, Jews have been under pressure for several years now. Instead of getting sympathy for the harassment they are subjected to, Jews have earned only scorn for their refusal to denounce Israel first.
That is the sad truth — one that anti-Zionist Jewish intellectuals, with their demonising rhetoric against Israel and their patronising attitude towards fellow Jews, have irresponsibly abetted. To shield themselves from shame and abuse, Jews are asked to discard Israel from their own collective identity. This step, and an active denunciation of Israel as the antithesis of progressive and Jewish values (themselves, in this vision, synonymous with one another), will gain them full acceptance. Scores of Jews, especially among the progressive intellectuals, indeed comply in public acts of mea culpa, thus lending an alibi to antisemites and gentrifying anti-Jewish prejudice in the process.
For these Jewish Israel-haters, Jewish victimhood is the authentic Jewish moral experience. To put it another way, to them the most elevated kind of Jew is a dead Jew. And that is surely the real crime that Israel commits in their eyes – that it was restored specifically to ensure that never again would Jews be powerless victims but instead would fight for the survival of the Jewish people. And that is unforgiveable – because what these Jews of the left really hate is not just Israel but Judaism itself.

Slain soldier known as 'G.I. Jew'

Blogmaster's Note: To be a Jewish Soldier in America is an anomaly. The opinion of most American Jews regarding a nice Jewish boy joining the Army is one of disdain... the same as a Jew who wants to be a Police Officer or Fireman. In my opinion, there is no greater service to your faith and your community than dedicating your life to public service. There needs to be a change of attitude in America... our Jewish Men and Women in Service should be held in awe for their courage and selflessness. We should remember with pride Specialist 4th Class Daniel Agami, our own American "G.I. Jew" as nothing less than a heroic inspiration for us all.

NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. (JTA) – The Army had big plans for Daniel Agami when he returned from Iraq.

"They were going to use his talents and center an advertising campaign around him as an ambassador for the United States Army," said Lt. Col. Douglas Maddox Jr., a casualty assistance officer. "The campaign was slated to commence in three months when Daniel was to return stateside."

Agami never made it back. Maddox was speaking following his funeral on June 26.

The 25-year-old Army specialist affectionately known as "G.I. Jew" was killed five days earlier in Baghdad when an improvised explosive device detonated near the Humvee in which he and four other soldiers were riding.

His funeral at the Star of David Cemetery in North Lauderdale drew more than 1,000 mourners, including several area rabbis and representatives of Jewish organizations. He was buried with full military honors. Instead of the usual 21-gun salute, the Honor Guard fired 18 rounds to signify "chai," the Jewish symbol for life.

Agami, who lived in South Florida, was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal. He also was promoted from private first class to specialist.

"Daniel did not consult with anyone when he enlisted. He simply felt a calling," said Rabbi Yossi Denburg, dean of the Hebrew Academy Community School in Margate and spiritual leader of the Chabad of Coral Springs, who officiated at the funeral. "He always knew his life was meant for a greater significance and purpose and, first and foremost, Daniel was a soldier in God's army."

Denburg said Agami kept kosher in the Army, and slept with an American and Israeli flag over his bunk.

"His rifle had a sign titled 'The Hebrew Hammer,' and he named the U.S. Army issued yarmulke his 'Combatika,' " the rabbi said. "Daniel’s sense of humor and love of life was evident in all that he did."

According to Capt. Jared Purcell, the Army's public affairs officer in Baghdad, Agami was a mentor to orphans in Iraq.

"Daniel did a lot of work with local schools," Purcell said. "His Charlie Company helped refurbish many schools in Adhamiyah, and Daniel was always right in the middle of it with the children. You could see how much they loved him."

During his stint in Iraq, Agami was interviewed by Fox News talk-show host Bill O'Reilly, MSNBC and several media outlets. The night after the soldier's funeral, O'Reilly and the local television stations in South Florida led with the news of his death.

"I interviewed this young man in December 2006," O'Reilly said in a recent interview. "Here you have a situation of a young guy volunteering who could have done a myriad of other things. But he was convinced his presence was helping his country.

"His death and all the other deaths are a tragedy. Ninety percent of the forces feel the same as Daniel. You may differ or agree with the war, but you must agree they are patriots and I think of them as heroes myself."

Agami, an Ohio native, moved with his family to South Florida at the age of 4. He attended the Hebrew Academy Community School and graduated from Coconut Creek High School. He was attending college when he made the decision two years ago to enlist in the Army.

"No soldier or Marine in the theater does what Daniel did without tremendous parents," O'Reilly said. "He had a true moral compass that he received from them."

At the funeral, Brig. Gen. Nolen Bivens, chief of staff of the U.S. Southern Command, presented the folded American flag to Agami’s mother and father, Beth and Yitzhak, and several other members of the family.

"He was an extraordinary young man," Maddox said, "with a tremendous love of country, love of family and love of faith."
