Capital Punishment and Abortion

We read in the Mishna: "Therefore but a single man was created in the world, to teach that if any man has caused a single soul to perish, Scripture imputes it to him as though he had caused a whole world to perish; and if any man saves alive a single soul, Scripture imputes it to him as though he had saved alive a whole world."

To avoid misunderstanding, let me state at the outset that I do not advocate capital punishment in Israel at this time—except for Muslims or Arabs who, as members of a terrorist group, have deliberately murdered Jewish civilians in pursuance of genocide or politicide: genocide against the Jewish people, or politicide against the State of Israel.

Nor do I regard as correct the Catholic view of abortion. But there is something very curious about the liberal position on these two issues, especially by liberals who not only advocate the American practice of "abortion on demand," but who also justify abortion for economic or social or psychological reasons in contradistinction to reasons involving the mother’s life.

Among the arguments against capital punishment is the contention that society has no right to take the life even of the most savage murderer. Yet many if not most opponents of capital punishment assert the right of a woman to terminate even full term pregnancies, hence to snuff out, with the aid of a physician, the life of her unborn child. Murderers would thus be spared while the innocent would be murdered.

Our liberals have become so "humane" and "progressive." They feel compassion, perhaps some responsibility, for those who have taken life, but not for those who have just begun to live. Without a twinge of moral doubt or remorse, they execute the unborn and condemn as cruel and barbaric the execution even of serial murderers. CONTINUED

Organized opposition is coming together to attempt to thwart the pathetic proposal to surrender most of Israel to Muslim terror organizations. That's the cold plain truth.
Unfortunately for us, Bush needs this "Middle East Peace" to cover his butt for his failure to otherwise stabilize the region and to cement his relationship with his business partners in the oil producing Islamic nations such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Nigeria. Iraq may well be unpredictable as an oil source for the next decade, and even the wiliest analysts in the State Department cannot help the Bush family with Iran.
Why is the U.S. Secretary of State meeting (negotiating) with Syria when its leadership over the past 2 generations has consistently promised to deliver a death blow to Israel if given the opportunity?
I think that all who follow the region understand that Syria is the conduit for Iran to fund and arm the Muslim irregular forces in and around Israel.
The proposed Middle East peace conference is a red herring; the real issue is that Islam is not a religion of peace and Islmaofacism threatens Israel's very existence and has its eyes on the U.S. too. Europe is a lost cause.
The proposed Olmert surrender must be thwarted by all lawful means necessary. Israelis will not go down without a fight which will make the heroic stand of the Warsaw Ghetto fighters look like a game of checkers if we are attacked. Olmert has an approval rating of somewhere between 5% and 7%, but the voters are so indifferent to elections and government because of political battle fatigue that they lack the strength to cut him off at the pass before he embarks on his fool's errand/devil's mission. 95% of us are either politically comatose or caught up in the corruption of the current system.
Torah teaches us that where there is no leader, be the man (leader) and don't look back. Although the protest at the embassy didn't stop the expulsion from Gush Katif, thoughtful and engaged Israelis appreciated the effort.
What would be most effective would be for every concerned American Jew to come to Israel and demonstrate with us in the streets to stop this. Even if only 10% heeded this call, 600,000 people could have a huge impact.
As they cannot or will not for a variety of reasons, they should do the closest thing to taking to the Israeli streets by demonstrating outside the Israeli embassy in Washington. Most won't due that because they have been conditioned to worry about what the gentiles will think if we do our dirty laundry in public. Accordingly, something along those lines which also targets the State Department and the White House may have an impact.
We no longer have the luxury of doing our dirty laundry in private; to do so is as pathetic as the situation of a battered spouse who hides her bruises and lies to save herself and her family from embarrassment. Too often, she ends up dead.
The world must know the truth before it's too late.

Our Jerusalem

(Eli Hart, B'nai Elim) I walked out back this morning, as is my habit, to decide what my topic for the day would be. Watching the trees sway in the wind brought to mind the spirit of God moving across the face of the Earth. A sobering thought indeed. My eldest son Akiva joined me and shared his morning thoughts. My reverie came to a screeching halt as I listened to him.He went back to the house and I considered what we had discussed.

Wherever we Jews are in this world, we face Jerusalem when we pray. Many of us have a framed decorative plaque or sign on one of the East facing walls in our home to remind us of the diection of the Holy City of God. This sign is called a Mizrach sign, which means East.Apparently Akiva had been pondering our habit of facing East when he reached a conclusion and ask my thoughts on the subject. I answered the way any Jew would have. We face Jerusalem because that is where our Temple once stood.It is the place where the glory of God resided in the holy of holies.

His novel and new idea, as far as I know, was that we no longer face something holy, but the abomination of Islam when we pray. This same way of thinking would also apply to praying at the Kotel, the western wall. I was stunned. He said that as we pray there, below the Al-Aqsa mosque and the Dome of the rock, we are standing beneath what Torah calls a "high place." I could give no arguement to his conclusions.Torah is very specific, unyeilding and inflexible on this topic.We were commanded to tear down the high places and ashtoreth poles which were used to worship false gods.

Israel was condemned by God for allowing these things in the Land throughout it's history. How is it that we, after all our self-induced suffering, still allow this to continue today? We pray and cry out to our God daily to return to us and to restore us to our former glory while we allow this symbol of Islam to stand. I can no longer in good conscience face East when I pray to the God of Israel, and will cease this practice immediately. I will henceforth face any other direction as long as this shrine to a false god and his prophet is allowed to make a once holy place desolate of the glory of the God of Israel.

This god of Islam, which Muslim's call Allah, can in no wise be the God of Torah. Allah was the god of the Koreish Tribe, the tribe of Mohammed's father. They were idol worshipers with many gods at the time. To believe that the Quran was dictated by a messenger of God to Mohammed is heresy. Let us not forget that Mohammed was illiterate.

We have but two options. Either the government and people of Israel destroy all remnants of these abominations and turn back to God, or He will allow us once again to be overrun by the idolatrous infidels. The streets of Jerusalem will flow with our blood as they have many times in our history. The Temple Mount was taken during the 1967 war against all odds and we did not do as we were commanded in Torah. Israel's leaders and and military commanders were, and are, secular. They will not do what is necessary because they do not care about the Temple Mount. Everyone fears the Arab response if their shrines are desecrated. I ask you, why? They have vowed to destroy us regardless. Let us do what we are commanded to do in Torah without fear of reprisal. TEAR DOWN THE HIGH PLACES! Drive the barbarous hordes from our land before they slaughter us and drive us into the sea.I saw a Pogo cartoon once and it said, "we have met the enemy and he is us." This is true of Jews everywhere who have become complacent.
