Our World: The government's plan for Gaza

The Olmert-Livni-Barak-Yishai government is marching the country into another military confrontation with an Iranian proxy army. As was the case in the last confrontation with an Iranian proxy army two years ago, the country's leaders are fully committed to Israel's strategic defeat in the current one.
Tuesday, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Defense Minister Ehud Barak will meet ahead of Wednesday's security cabinet meeting to determine their preferred course of action in Gaza. As media reports and statements by the three's surrogates over the past several days make clear, Israel's political leaders oppose launching a military campaign aimed at defeating Hamas's Iranian directed, financed, trained and armed army and dislodging Hamas's jihadist regime from power.
Indeed, as their actions and statements over the past several months make clear, what Israel's political leaders really aspire to is a cease-fire agreement with Iran's Palestinian proxy regime. Under the proposed cease-fire, Hamas will suspend or scale back its illegal missile war against Israeli civilians in the South. In return, Israel will effectively accept Hamas rule of Gaza. Israel will allow Hamas to continue to build up its military forces in Gaza and have open access to the Sinai.
In light of Hamas's negotiations with Fatah towards the reestablishment of a Hamas-dominated Palestinian Authority unity government, such a cease-fire will also entail an end to the economic isolation of Gaza. Since they would be formally governed by Fatah - Israel's "peace partner," Gazans will be allowed to use Israeli ports and even build their own seaport and perhaps reopen their airport in Rafah. The debate in the West over whether or not to negotiate with Hamas will effectively end - with an international embrace of Hamas as Fatah's partner.
For the Olmert-Livni-Barak-Yishai government, a cease-fire is attractive politically. By providing a temporary respite from the jihadist missile attacks against southern Israel, the cease-fire will suspend the local media's coverage of the grave and gathering threat to Israel's security in the South. And the lull in media coverage of the Iranian threat in Gaza will provide breathing room for the scandal-ridden and deeply unpopular Olmert-Livni-Barak-Yishai government as it seeks desperately to avoid new general elections.
Gifted politicians that they are, Olmert, Livni and Barak know that if they decide Tuesday to reject the IDF's pleas to conduct a military campaign to dislodge Hamas again and opt instead to sign the Egyptian-mediated cease-fire deal with Iran's Palestinian army, they will be properly accused of political opportunism and cowardice by the media and their political opponents. So to sign on to a deal with Hamas, they need military cover.
As The Jerusalem Post reported last week, that smokescreen will likely be what Olmert, Livni, Barak and their surrogates refer to as a "medium-sized military option" against Hamas. The aim of their preferred military approach is not to defeat Hamas. They just want to "send it a message." In plain English, what their preferred military option involves is committing IDF forces to battle in numbers insufficient to defeat Hamas. IDF forces will be killed in battle and in the end, Hamas will still control Gaza. But in their public speeches, Olmert, Livni and Barak will claim victory arguing that now that they have "sent Hamas a message" they can sign the cease-fire agreement.
For their part, the local media will justify the government's decisions and agree to present them to the public as a strategic achievement. The media can be expected to do so for two reasons. First, they will not wish to upset the families of the soldiers who will die in the campaign by noting that their lives were sacrificed for nothing. And second, the leftist media is uninterested in general elections which will bring Likud to power and so they will work to block them by collaborating with the government in its attempts to pretend that the "medium-sized military operation" was a good idea.
As for the political opposition, as was the case in the Second Lebanon War, they will be unwilling to criticize the government while Israeli forces are risking their lives in battle. Afterwards, they will fear being castigated by the government and its media flacks as "unpatriotic" or "warmongering" if they criticize the outcome of the "medium-sized military operation" that will leave Hamas and Iran strengthened and free to expand their control to Judea and Samaria.
In short, Olmert, Livni and Barak are about to decide to sacrifice the lives of IDF soldiers in order to delude the public into believing that signing a cease-fire agreement that leaves Hamas in charge of Gaza and in a position to take over Judea and Samaria is a strategically sound policy.
This drastic assertion could be easily attacked as delusional and even paranoid if we hadn't been here before. But we have.
Two years ago, Israel was the victim of naked aggression when Hizbullah forces launched an unprovoked attack on an IDF patrol, killed three soldiers and abducted Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser while pummeling northern Israel with Katyusha rockets and short-range missiles. Although Olmert at the time declared war against Hizbullah, he, Livni and then defense minister Amir Peretz refused to order the IDF to defeat Hizbullah.
They refused for weeks to launch a ground campaign. They refused for weeks to call up reserve units. Interested in "sending a signal" to Hizbullah rather than defeating its forces, for four weeks they ordered the IDF to conduct operations with no operational logic in which IDF forces were killed in battles that had no strategic purpose.
Then, after squandering some 30 days of fruitless fighting, reacting to the public outcry against his incompetence, Olmert belatedly ordered a ground assault of South Lebanon. He ordered IDF forces to move in helter-skelter and attempt to complete an operation that was planned to take more than 96 hours in 48 hours. Most egregiously, the entire operation was launched after the UN Security Council had passed resolution 1701 defining the terms of Israel's cease-fire with Iran's Lebanese proxy army.
That is, even if the campaign had been successful, it would have had no impact on the outcome of the war which had already been determined - with Israeli support - in New York. And yet, to assuage the public demand for victory, the Olmert-Livni-Peretz-Yishai government launched the last minute "medium-sized" 48-hour attack in which 33 IDF forces were killed in a battle for nothing.
Resolution 1701 left Hizbullah intact and provided the illegal army of jihad with unprecedented political legitimacy. Under the cover of 1701, Iran and Syria have rebuilt Hizbullah's forces, which in turn have reasserted their military control over South Lebanon.
Just last week Barak warned that Hizbullah is setting up fortified positions along the border. He also said, "The Syrians are working in intimate cooperation with Hizbullah, and they are in large part responsible for the transfer of weapons and supplies to Hizbullah. The ultimate responsibility, as far as we're concerned, lies with Hizbullah on the one hand, and with the Iranians and the Syrians on the other." Barak's statements came two weeks after Hizbullah effectively overthrew the pro-Western Saniora government and through the good offices of the Qataris, forced the March 14 democracy movement to sign the Doha agreement, which transfers control of the country to Hizbullah. Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah was then quick to announce his army's subservience to Teheran.
The Olmert-Livni-Barak-Yishai government responded to Hizbullah's violent takeover of the Lebanese government by rewarding it. As Michael Young of Beirut's Daily Star wrote recently, Hizbullah is presenting its swap of dead IDF soldiers' body parts for Hizbullah spy Nissim Nasser as a first step towards a massive Israeli release of Hizbullah and Palestinian terrorists from its prisons in exchange for Regev and Goldwasser.
Such a prisoner release will play directly into Hizbullah's hands. It will effectively justify Hizbullah's decision to go to war with Israel two years ago to the Lebanese public. Such justification is essential as Hizbullah moves forward towards gaining internal Lebanese acceptance of its role as ruler of Lebanon.
Beyond its effective support of Hizbullah, the Olmert-Livni-Barak-Yishai government is strengthening the Iranian-controlled axis by conducting negotiations toward the surrender of the Golan Heights with Syrian President and Iranian proxy Bashar Assad. Here too, Israel is signaling to Assad that his decision to cast his lot with Teheran was a wise one.
The international consequences of Israel's behavior have already been unmistakable. This week both French President Nicholas Sarkozy and British Foreign Minister David Miliband visited Lebanon and accepted Hizbullah's demand for control over Mt. Dov on the Golan Heights. Israel seized the strategically vital area which controls the approaches to the Galilee in the 1967 Six Day War from Syria. Hizbullah claimed that it is continued Israeli control of the area that justified its war of aggression two years ago.
This all brings us back to the situation in Gaza. In his post-Doha address, Nasrallah urged Hamas to follow his successful model of war against Israel both in order to hasten Israel's destruction and to facilitate the extension of the terror group's control to Judea and Samaria. And of course, that is precisely what Hamas has been doing for the past two years.
The Olmert-Livni-Barak-Yishai government's political opponents have claimed that with the ongoing corruption probes against the prime minister, the government lacks the political legitimacy to conduct a military campaign in Gaza. This is a false assertion. As Israel's elected leaders, the Olmert-Livni-Barak-Yishai government has a duty to defend the country and the only way to do so is to launch a military campaign in Gaza
The problem is that the Olmert-Livni-Barak-Yishai government is incompetent to successfully carry out such an essential campaign. As in Lebanon two years ago, so in Gaza today, the type of campaign that this government will launch will only endanger Israel still further.

Israel’s politburo-security cabinet has put off until Wednesday a meeting to discuss the IDF operation to stop the rocketing of Sderot, Ashqelon, and Southern Israel.
It seems that the real Prime Minister, Mrs. USA... CondiSleeza Rice is scheduled to swoop down on Israel to knock Olmert around and convince him that any major operation by the IDF into Gaza to stop more murders of innocent Israelis would be counter-productive to the Bush peace process. Rice plans to force Olmert to direct that the politburo reexamine the humanitarian repercussions of a major IDF effort to silence the palestinian freedom fighters rocket barrages to the palestinian population.
Rice doesn’t want the world to see Israel pushing around a bunch of weak refugees and throwing her plans for a palestinian state off schedule. Word is that she will threaten to close Olmert’s U.S. bank accounts if he refuses to play ball and keep the IDF out of Gaza. Oh, and while she is at it, she will also tell him in no uncertain terms that under no circumstances should he resign and give the Israeli people an opportunity to actually vote for a leader of their own choosing.

Egyptian Military Stops Palestinian Suicide Bombers
Blogmaster’s Comments: Two more Palestinians who are closely associated with our so-called “peace partner”, PA President Mahmoud Abbas and his Fatah terrorist organization have been identified as trying to kill Israelis. How much more incentive do we need to see that none of the Palestinians want true peace, not Abbas, not Fatah, and certainly not Hamas. The only ones who fail to realize this fact are Olmert and his cronies in the Knesset. And why are they so blind and adamant that the peace process must go forward? Not because they truly want peace, but because that is the only excuse that anyone can produce to prevent Olmert and the rest of his gang from losing their cushy jobs. How narcissistic can the Olmert Gang be…at the expense of the lives of their countrymen and the future of the State of Israel? I had been anxiously awaiting the release of the Winograd report because I believed that it would spell doom for Olmert’s bunch. How stupid could I have been not to think that political corruption and influence would not have directly affected the report’s outcome? So now the story is out and the Winograd commission members are admitting that Olmert was saved by their omission of the facts of his complete and utter failure not only as a Prime Minister, but as the Commander in Chief of our Military. Where do we go from here… what can we do to save Israel? The answer is obvious my friends. The answer is obvious if we want to stop Palestinian terrorism; the answer is obvious if we want Israel to be a Jewish State and homeland for Jews; the answer is obvious if we want to stop the useless shedding of Jewish blood; the answer is obvious if we want to stop the giving up of Jewish land; the answer is obvious my friends…. Courage, have the courage to do what is right… and do it soon!

JERUSALEM – Egyptian forces yesterday caught terrorists associated with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah organization attempting to infiltrate Israel with explosive belts, Egyptian security sources told WND.
Four Palestinian members of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, Fatah's declared military wing, were arrested last night in the Egyptian Sinai desert, which has a long, unprotected border with Israel, said the sources. Also, Egypt arrested six Hamas terrorists, the sources said.
The captured Fatah Brigades and Hamas members were carrying explosive devices purportedly for use in suicide bombings. The Egyptian sources would not say whether the captured Palestinians were themselves planning to become bombers or if they were to hand the explosive devices to others to carry out suicide operations.
Earlier this week, two Palestinian suicide bombers infiltrated the Israeli Negev desert city of Dimona. One bomber exploded his suicide belt, killing one Israeli civilian and wounding 11 others, including one person who was critically wounded. A second suicide bomber was shot dead by security forced before he could detonate his explosive device immediately following the first suicide attack.
The two suicide bombers were believed to have crossed into Israel from Egypt after Gaza-based militants 13 days ago blew up the Gaza-Egypt border wall, allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to stream into the Egyptian Sinai desert. Israel has a long border with Egypt, much of which is unprotected. Hamas has claimed the two bombers originated in the West Bank and not the Gaza Strip.
It was unclear whether the Fatah terrorists arrested by Egypt yesterday included two potential suicide bombers Israel says are attempting to infiltrate the Jewish state.
According to terrorist sources and Palestinian security officials in Gaza speaking to WND, when the Egypt-Gaza border was breached two weeks ago, the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, Hamas and several other terrorist organizations sent several suicide bombers with explosive belts into the Egyptian Sinai desert with instructions to attempt to infiltrate into Israel.
Yuval Diskin, chief of Israel's Shin Bet Security Services, warned during a speech to the Knesset yesterday that some Palestinian terrorists who crossed into the Egyptian Sinai desert the past two weeks relocated themselves to form terror cells in strategic areas bordering Egypt.
The Shin Bet chief said Israeli intelligence is aware of at least 20 specific locations at the Israel-Egypt border currently in use by Palestinian terrorists in attempts to infiltrate the Jewish state to carry out attacks. He said security has been boosted at those locations, but he stressed the need for Israel to immediate construct a security fence along the entire border.

Olmert's Government Silence Bloggers
Blogmaster's Rant: As the owner of a Jewish Blog whose primary focus is Israel's leadership, politics, and current events, I am concerned about the proposed draconian anti-blogging measures in this respect: Someone previously commented that if we are blogging from servers located outside of Israel and indeed we live outside of Israel than we have little to be concerned about. This may be true if we Never Plan To Visit or Return to Israel. If this measure passes, it is entirely probable that those of us who are critical of the Government and tend to hold accountable the Officials in that Government, will be placed at the very least on a “personae non grate” list and will be denied entry to Israel. Or worse, the next time we disembark from El Al at Ben Gurion, we will be arrested by the "thought police" for insulting some inept public servant by telling the truth about his lack of talent, etc. I believe that there is real concern in some governmental circles about the thus far “untouchable” off-shore bloggers who have become a great deal more than just an irritant or a thorn in the touches. Food for thought…

Web site owners or editors will be legally responsible for any content on their site, including comments made in talkbacks and message boards, a bill passed on Sunday by the Ministerial Committee on Legislation states.
According to the bill, which was drafted by MK Israel Hasson (Israel Beiteinu) web sites could be absolved of liability if they agree to reveal the details of posters.
While the bill still needs to be approved in three readings in the Knesset plenum, receiving the support of the Ministerial Committee on Legislation gives it a much higher chance of passing into law.

The rape of Israel
Blogmaster's Comments: The photograph below is of what we call a "Lame Duck". This particular Lame Duck is doing everything in his power to, as Caroline Glick says below, Rape israel with the willing assistance of his master (and another Lame Duck) George W. Bush. What are his motives? Olmert, the Lame Duck, is seeking revenge against the very people he is sworn to protect because he is an angry man. Olmert is a narcissist, a great leader in his own mind, and will...one way or another, be remembered by history and the Jewish people. Therefore, he will be complicit in the Rape of Israel with his co-conspirator, George W. Bush. Bush, a fellow narcissist will do anything (at the expense of Israel) to be known as the one who settled the "Jewish Problem" in the middle-east. The two Ducks will work diligently to insure that Israel as we know it will cease to exist. Is it not time for the Israeli people to stand up and save the country????

And certain Jewish elements in the Jewish State couldn't be more thrilled
http://www.JewishWorldReview.com Last week New York's Jewish Week reported that the editor of Israel's self-described "newspaper of record" asked the US Secretary of State to rape his country and told her that his erotic fantasy is to watch America rape Israel.
On September 10, at a dinner at the home of US Ambassador Richard Jones, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met with a group of Israeli "elites." Among the elitists was Ha'aretz editor David Landau. According to the Jewish Week, Landau "referred to Israel as a failed state' politically, one in need of a US-imposed settlement. He was said to have implored Rice to intervene, asserting that the Israeli government wanted 'to be raped' and that it would be like a 'wet dream' for him to see this happen.
When questioned by the paper, Landau claimed this account of his comments was inaccurate, but then confirmed saying that 'Israel wants to be raped' into a settlement and said he told Rice it was his 'wet dream' to address her on the issue. He added that several people came up to him afterwards and congratulated him for his remarks, claiming that, "I articulated what many Israelis feel."
Actually, almost no Israelis feel what Landau expressed. But his views are shared by his newspaper and by a significant portion of the elitists who dominate the country.
The pro-rape crowd's influence, which rose after Israel's defeat in the war with Hizbullah in 2006, became decisive over the past few months as the date of the publication of the Winograd Commission of inquiry's final report on the war approaches. The report, set to be issued later this month, is expected to find Prime Minister Ehud Olmert responsible for Israel's failure to defeat Iran's foreign legion in Lebanon.

To this end, he courts Syria, advocates Israel's withdrawal from Judea, Samaria and parts of Jerusalem, refuses to take action against either Iran, or the burgeoning Iranian-trained Hamas army in Gaza.
Then too, a week before US President George W. Bush's first presidential visit to Israel, Olmert gave an interview to the Jerusalem Post where he went out of his way to prove that Landau is right. His government does wish to be "raped" by the US.
Sounding more like a Palestinian spokesman than the leader of Israel, Olmert attacked his own country claiming that it isn't abiding by its obligations to the terror-supporting Palestinians. In his words, "There is a certain contradiction… between what we're actually seeing and what we ourselves promised. We always complain about the [breached] promises of the other side. Obligations are not only to be demanded of others, but they must also be honored by ourselves."
Olmert argued that Israel must withdraw to the 1949 armistice lines with minor modifications not because doing so will ensure peace with the Palestinians, but because if we don't we'll lose our Jewish majority.
The Prime Minister's contention is questionable for two basic reasons. First, the 1949 lines are not demographic borders but ceasefire lines. On the eastern side of the line live a half million Jews, and on the western side live one million Arabs. Second, the ceasefire lines are indefensible. So while not solving any demographic problem, withdrawing to the 1949 lines will imperil Israel militarily.
Beyond that, there is the fact that Olmert's dark demographic projections are based on falsified census data published by the Palestinian Authority in 1997. As the American-Israeli Demographic Research Group proved conclusively in January 2005, the PA's numbers were inflated by some fifty percent. Although demography is a problem, Israel is in no immediate danger of losing its Jewish majority.
The immediate danger Israel faces stems not from demography but from the ideology of jihad that has convinced the Arab and Islamic world to seek Israel's destruction rather than accept it. Shrinking into indefensible borders will only exacerbate that problem by telling the jihadists that Israel can be destroyed through violence and terror.
Olmert also argued that Israel must give up its sovereignty over Jerusalem because Israel's supporters want it to. In his words, "the world that is friendly to Israel...that really supports Israel, when it speaks of the future, it speaks of Israel in terms of the '67 borders. It speaks of the division of Jerusalem."
So in an English interview, the week before Bush's arrival in the country, Olmert essentially asked Israel's friend in the White House to pressure Israel to concede its vital national rights and interests.
In the same interview with the Post Olmert acknowledged that his putative peace partner — Fatah leader and PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas — does not recognize Israel's right to exist and demands the so-called "right of return" for millions of foreign descendants of Arabs who left Israel in 1948. But, he soothed, this is not a cause for worry.
Olmert's not worried, because Olmert can see into Abbas's soul. As he put it, "If you ask [Abbas] to say that he sees Israel as a Jewish state, he will not say that. But if you ask me whether in his soul he accepts Israel, as Israel defines itself, I think he does."
For Olmert, intent as he is on securing the support of the pro-national rape crew, his faith in Abbas's peaceful soul is more important than the visible reality on the ground. And that reality is not merely reflected in the fact that Fatah and Hamas are rhetorically indistinguishable from one another. That reality is also reflected in the fact that the three Israelis murdered in the last six weeks - Ido Zoldan, David Rubin and Ahikam Amihai — were all killed by official, Abbas-commanded PA security forces.
The three terrorist murders show clearly that the PA itself, rather than Hamas, is the most lethal terrorist group in Palestinian society. And the same PA security organs involved in killing Israelis are funded and armed by Israel and the US — which together with the Europeans and the Russians also trains them.
Rather than contend with this sordid reality, the Olmert government makes excuses for it. On Thursday, Olmert's spokesman Mark Regev told the Post that while Israel will raise the involvement of PA security forces in the murder of Israelis with Bush, he took pains to underplay the significance of the fact that the PA security forces themselves are the ones killing Israelis. He referred to the killers as "rogue, extremist elements inside the Fatah machine and the Palestinian security apparatus," and so sought to distance them from their leaders who encourage and celebrate their behavior.
Through their actions as statements, the Palestinians themselves show daily that there is no difference between Abbas and Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh or between Fatah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad. None of them are interested in peaceful coexistence with the Jewish state - whatever they may or may not feel in their souls. Just as happened in Gaza, so in Judea and Samaria and Jerusalem, any land that Israel transfers to their authority will be used as a base for operations against Israel. Any Israeli community relinquished will be transformed into terror training bases and missile launching pads.
But then, the reality of war doesn't have much to recommend itself under the looming specter of the Winograd report. The only reality that interests Olmert is the reality of his quest to survive in office. And to stay in office, Olmert needs Landau and his friends. And so Israel's strategic straitjacket grows tighter by the day.
This week, Iranian strongman Ali Larijani paid an official state visit to Egypt. He met not only with President Hosni Mubarak and Foreign Minister Ahmad Gheit, but with Egypt's chief cleric, the head of the Al Azhar Mosque and Islamic University Sheikh Muhammad Tantawi. During his visit he offered nuclear collaboration with Egypt. He also worked to settle religious disputes between Shiite and Sunni Islam to facilitate jihadist collaboration against the common enemies of all Muslims.
On the heels of Larijani's visit, Mubarak broke on his pledge to Defense Minister Ehud Barak from a week ago not to allow the thousands of Hamas terrorists seeking to return to Gaza after traveling to Saudi Arabia to enter the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing where Israel has no security presence. Wednesday the terrorists marched across the border unopposed. Some were reportedly carrying over $100 million in cash which they received from Iran and Saudi Arabia. Others were returning after receiving military training in Iran.
The Olmert government had nothing to say about Egypt's open collusion with Israel's enemies. And how could it? Admitting that Egypt is an enemy state would harm the pro-national rape gang's peace narrative. For them, Egypt is the head of the "moderate camp."
Rather than acknowledge this reality, Olmert showers Mubarak with praise. In his interview with the Post, he said, "When I even think of how things would be if we were dealing with people other than Mubarak, well, I pray every day for his well-being and good health."
The truth is that so far, Olmert's gambit has been successful. All the public's attempts to force him to resign - over Lebanon, over Gaza and over allegations of Olmert's massive corruption — have been scuttled. Guarding their man, the pro-national rape camp has given little to no media backing to popular calls for his removal from office. Landau and his friends are fully willing to lose wars and be led by morally impaired, incompetent leaders if doing so facilitates the international rape of their country.
Take Landau's Ha'aretz employee, columnist Yoel Marcus for example. In his December 14 column, Marcus called for Olmert to be forced from office. Just one week later, emphasizing the importance of the peace process, Marcus said that Olmert must stay in power after the Winograd report is published.
There are officials in Washington who claim that Bush is angry at Olmert. They say that Bush expected Olmert to stand up to Rice when she became overtly hostile to Israel in the lead up to the Annapolis conference. These officials argue that if Olmert were just to stand up to Rice, the president would finally have the opportunity to push her aside and marginalize her.
It is hard to know what to make of this claim. Unfortunately, we won't see it tested any time soon. Controlled by the rape Israel crowd, Olmert needs Rice's pressure. And so he told the Post that Bush, (and by extension Rice), is "not doing a single thing that I don't agree to. He doesn't support anything that I oppose."
Bush's first presidential visit to Israel could have been a great opportunity for the country. But in his interview with the Post, a week before Bush's arrival Olmert made clear that the visit will be a disaster. Whether Bush wants to or not, ahead of the pubicatio of the Winograd report, Olmert will leave him no choice. Bush will be forced to rape Israel.

http://www.JewishWorldReview.com Last week New York's Jewish Week reported that the editor of Israel's self-described "newspaper of record" asked the US Secretary of State to rape his country and told her that his erotic fantasy is to watch America rape Israel.
On September 10, at a dinner at the home of US Ambassador Richard Jones, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met with a group of Israeli "elites." Among the elitists was Ha'aretz editor David Landau. According to the Jewish Week, Landau "referred to Israel as a failed state' politically, one in need of a US-imposed settlement. He was said to have implored Rice to intervene, asserting that the Israeli government wanted 'to be raped' and that it would be like a 'wet dream' for him to see this happen.
When questioned by the paper, Landau claimed this account of his comments was inaccurate, but then confirmed saying that 'Israel wants to be raped' into a settlement and said he told Rice it was his 'wet dream' to address her on the issue. He added that several people came up to him afterwards and congratulated him for his remarks, claiming that, "I articulated what many Israelis feel."
Actually, almost no Israelis feel what Landau expressed. But his views are shared by his newspaper and by a significant portion of the elitists who dominate the country.
The pro-rape crowd's influence, which rose after Israel's defeat in the war with Hizbullah in 2006, became decisive over the past few months as the date of the publication of the Winograd Commission of inquiry's final report on the war approaches. The report, set to be issued later this month, is expected to find Prime Minister Ehud Olmert responsible for Israel's failure to defeat Iran's foreign legion in Lebanon.

To this end, he courts Syria, advocates Israel's withdrawal from Judea, Samaria and parts of Jerusalem, refuses to take action against either Iran, or the burgeoning Iranian-trained Hamas army in Gaza.
Then too, a week before US President George W. Bush's first presidential visit to Israel, Olmert gave an interview to the Jerusalem Post where he went out of his way to prove that Landau is right. His government does wish to be "raped" by the US.
Sounding more like a Palestinian spokesman than the leader of Israel, Olmert attacked his own country claiming that it isn't abiding by its obligations to the terror-supporting Palestinians. In his words, "There is a certain contradiction… between what we're actually seeing and what we ourselves promised. We always complain about the [breached] promises of the other side. Obligations are not only to be demanded of others, but they must also be honored by ourselves."
Olmert argued that Israel must withdraw to the 1949 armistice lines with minor modifications not because doing so will ensure peace with the Palestinians, but because if we don't we'll lose our Jewish majority.
The Prime Minister's contention is questionable for two basic reasons. First, the 1949 lines are not demographic borders but ceasefire lines. On the eastern side of the line live a half million Jews, and on the western side live one million Arabs. Second, the ceasefire lines are indefensible. So while not solving any demographic problem, withdrawing to the 1949 lines will imperil Israel militarily.
Beyond that, there is the fact that Olmert's dark demographic projections are based on falsified census data published by the Palestinian Authority in 1997. As the American-Israeli Demographic Research Group proved conclusively in January 2005, the PA's numbers were inflated by some fifty percent. Although demography is a problem, Israel is in no immediate danger of losing its Jewish majority.
The immediate danger Israel faces stems not from demography but from the ideology of jihad that has convinced the Arab and Islamic world to seek Israel's destruction rather than accept it. Shrinking into indefensible borders will only exacerbate that problem by telling the jihadists that Israel can be destroyed through violence and terror.
Olmert also argued that Israel must give up its sovereignty over Jerusalem because Israel's supporters want it to. In his words, "the world that is friendly to Israel...that really supports Israel, when it speaks of the future, it speaks of Israel in terms of the '67 borders. It speaks of the division of Jerusalem."

Unauthorized communities and the expansion of existing, authorized communities “can be an impediment to success,” Bush said.
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has agreed to freeze construction in Jewish cities in Judea and Samaria, and recently announced that all building plans in the area require his approval. Olmert has frozen construction even in “settlement blocs” such as Ariel that most governments have insisted will belong to Israel in any agreement to establish an Arab state in Yesha.

George Bush has done more damage to Israel and caused more unnecessary loss of Jewish Lives than any other U.S. President I can remember. The only admitted and avowed U.S. President who openly hates Israel and shows his anti Semitism is the peanut farmer, Jimmy Carter. Even Carter did not cause as much pain in Israel.
But, seriously now, why does Israel allow a foreign president to come into the country and dictate what Israel must do (naturally he will put an “Or Else!” into the equation).
Bush wants to uproot thousands of Israelis, destroy their homes, and make them refugees! To what end… the establishment of another hostile Arab state, which this time would literally cut Israel in half!
Bush’s lapdog, Ehud Olmert has Kissed Bush’s touches again in front of the whole world and frozen construction on Jewish land meant to house Israel’s growing population. In what other country does the President or Prime Minister dictate that no construction can take place without his express approval? Not even in Russia is such a thing tolerated!
Olmert and Bush are both racing towards the destruction of Israel as a Jewish State. What I find most frustrating is that the citizens of Israel are allowing Olmert and his out of control government to turn Israel into either a dictatorship or a banana republic. Doesn’t anyone dive a damn about the future of Irael?

You can get to the point of frustration repeating the same mantra over and over. Listen to me carefully: leadership is lacking in the United States and in Israel. Current "leadership" is deplorable. Politics has become a play with politicians playing clowns, felons, liars, cowards and fools. Leaders cant or won't lead, and we dance to their tunes like trained bears. Ehud Olmert, Shimon Peres and other inept traitors should have been indicted long ago. Their efforts have been to appease the enemy or cover up their own high crimes and misdemeanors. Their only plan is to give away parts of Israel.
Negotiating for something real in return is out of the question. Israel dances and the world shouts "faster." Prime Minister Olmert continues with plans to dismantle Israel one settlement at a time. Who's stopping him? Washington eagerly supplies Arabs with up-to-date weapons and state-of-the-art training. With the "friends" of Olmert, Israel doesn't need enemies. I wonder, despite talk of "peace," are they complete idiots, insane or what? Do they really believe that another state on their border would be a peaceful partner? As a sovereign nation, Palestine would have the right to place weapons within striking distance of Israel's major cities.
Fatah-controlled TV regularly broadcasts that every Israeli city will be "liberated" because its "identity is Arab." Announcements in English demand a two-state solution, while in Arabic, death is promised. Death and more death to the Jews. They never hide their plans. They consider Jews the occupiers of their land. Why would Israel, George Bush or Condoleezza Rice "make peace" with an evil entity that has no intention of ever making peace?
Everyone knows that the objective of these "peace talks" is the eventual destruction of Israel. Does anyone truly think otherwise? I'm at the point where I don't even want to read the newspapers or listen to mainstream media. I can't blame it all on President. Bush, though. Most of the problem is due to the moronic behavior of Israel's corrupt leadership.
For instance, if it were up to me, I'd take drastic measures to wipe Gaza off the map in the name of self-defense. I would cut off all supplies - gas, oil, electricity, food, water, money, medicine and everything else that I could think of. Statehood is the last thing I would seek to provide them with. Transferring the population to Jordan is a better idea.
Despite the daily terror attacks and bombs lobbed across the line into Israel, Israel refuses to invade Gaza. They fear that the Palestinian Authority would stop supplying Israel with gas from a field discovered by Israel in 2000. This field, with an estimated worth of $4 billion, was given as a gift by then-Prime Minister Ehud Barak to the PA. Now, this "gift" is being developed with British Gas. Ariel Sharon opposed the deal. He knew the revenues would be used to fund terrorism. Present Prime Minister Olmert is going along with it anyway.
What gives Olmert the power to give away a country? Does "democracy" in Israel allow incompetent leaders to open the jails and release terrorists in regular "good will gestures?" As I write this, Olmert is planning to release 400 hundred terrorists in another futile attempt to prop up Mahmoud Abbas.
Security is no longer an issue. Attacks on Israel are gauged by the needs of the international public forums. One recent release of 255 Fatah terrorists was dependent upon their promise not to murder Israelis. Most of those released had been convicted of attempted murder or the placement of bombs. So, they were released. All except for one brilliant terrorist who stayed in jail so he could continue to receive free medication for his arthritis.
Did I also mention that the prisoners were given a three-month "trial period" during which they promised to avoid all terrorist activities? After that, they would be removed from the "fugitive" list. Later, according to one report, they would receive new weapons from the PA. Our US Postal Service has okayed a Muslim stamp. At the same time, the ACLU is probably trying to block issuance of Christmas and Easter stamps. But let's not be politically incorrect. Our cities are becoming third-world communities with the influx of illegals, because my President favors a "guest worker" program. So, why am I expecting Israelis to march by the millions in protest of what they see happening in their country?
Gaza needs Israeli gas? Now that's really comical. Israel, the size of New Jersey, is constantly denounced as a threat to 22 Arab nations. Combined, these countries are larger than the European Union. Fifty-six Muslim countries that cover almost one-third of the Earth's land mass are unbelievably rich from oil, none of which seems to find its way to Gaza.
Has anyone watched what Fatah and Hamas have been doing to each other? To celebrate the memory of Yasser Arafat, the father of terrorism, a new building was erected as a memorial costing upwards of two million dollars. But the "refugees" dip into the till of the United States Treasury (pardon me, the United Nations Treasury) for more subsidies.
The lack of leadership and the blind stupidity of countries that follow these "leaders" are sucking the strength and energy out of us. Somehow, stupid and crazy has become the norm. To keep on giving and giving and getting nothing in return, not even recognition of the right to exist, is ludicrous. And all the while, they keep demanding more and more. Annapolis? No thank you.
The inept leadership of both the US and Israel must not be allowed to rewrite history. They ignore the lessons of history and are simply going to repeat past mistakes. The Roadmap to Hell had the pretense that it was for peace. Now? The only goal is the creation of a terrorist state whose aim is to destroy its neighbor Israel.
In addition, this state will cost Israel about 90 billion dollars in relocation costs for Jewish citizens. The increased cost of security would put a huge dent in Israel's budget. The Annapolis plans could bring Zionism to an end. Israel as a Jewish State might not survive. Where are the masses? Millions in Israel should be marching to stop this madness.
Let me end on a high note. This year, Islam and Judaism celebrated their holiest holidays by overlapping for ten days. During this time, Muslims racked up 397 dead bodies in 94 terror attacks in ten countries. Jews? We celebrated our 159th Nobel Prize winner. I rest my case.

How can Israel be so stupid?

You can get to the point of frustration repeating the same mantra over and over. Listen to me carefully: leadership is lacking in the United States and in Israel. Current "leadership" is deplorable. Politics has become a play with politicians playing clowns, felons, liars, cowards and fools. Leaders cant or won't lead, and we dance to their tunes like trained bears. Ehud Olmert, Shimon Peres and other inept traitors should have been indicted long ago. Their efforts have been to appease the enemy or cover up their own high crimes and misdemeanors. Their only plan is to give away parts of Israel.
Negotiating for something real in return is out of the question. Israel dances and the world shouts "faster." Prime Minister Olmert continues with plans to dismantle Israel one settlement at a time. Who's stopping him? Washington eagerly supplies Arabs with up-to-date weapons and state-of-the-art training. With the "friends" of Olmert, Israel doesn't need enemies. I wonder, despite talk of "peace," are they complete idiots, insane or what? Do they really believe that another state on their border would be a peaceful partner? As a sovereign nation, Palestine would have the right to place weapons within striking distance of Israel's major cities.
Fatah-controlled TV regularly broadcasts that every Israeli city will be "liberated" because its "identity is Arab." Announcements in English demand a two-state solution, while in Arabic, death is promised. Death and more death to the Jews. They never hide their plans. They consider Jews the occupiers of their land. Why would Israel, George Bush or Condoleezza Rice "make peace" with an evil entity that has no intention of ever making peace?
Everyone knows that the objective of these "peace talks" is the eventual destruction of Israel. Does anyone truly think otherwise? I'm at the point where I don't even want to read the newspapers or listen to mainstream media. I can't blame it all on President. Bush, though. Most of the problem is due to the moronic behavior of Israel's corrupt leadership.
For instance, if it were up to me, I'd take drastic measures to wipe Gaza off the map in the name of self-defense. I would cut off all supplies - gas, oil, electricity, food, water, money, medicine and everything else that I could think of. Statehood is the last thing I would seek to provide them with. Transferring the population to Jordan is a better idea.
Despite the daily terror attacks and bombs lobbed across the line into Israel, Israel refuses to invade Gaza. They fear that the Palestinian Authority would stop supplying Israel with gas from a field discovered by Israel in 2000. This field, with an estimated worth of $4 billion, was given as a gift by then-Prime Minister Ehud Barak to the PA. Now, this "gift" is being developed with British Gas. Ariel Sharon opposed the deal. He knew the revenues would be used to fund terrorism. Present Prime Minister Olmert is going along with it anyway.
What gives Olmert the power to give away a country? Does "democracy" in Israel allow incompetent leaders to open the jails and release terrorists in regular "good will gestures?" As I write this, Olmert is planning to release 400 hundred terrorists in another futile attempt to prop up Mahmoud Abbas.
Security is no longer an issue. Attacks on Israel are gauged by the needs of the international public forums. One recent release of 255 Fatah terrorists was dependent upon their promise not to murder Israelis. Most of those released had been convicted of attempted murder or the placement of bombs. So, they were released. All except for one brilliant terrorist who stayed in jail so he could continue to receive free medication for his arthritis.
Did I also mention that the prisoners were given a three-month "trial period" during which they promised to avoid all terrorist activities? After that, they would be removed from the "fugitive" list. Later, according to one report, they would receive new weapons from the PA. Our US Postal Service has okayed a Muslim stamp. At the same time, the ACLU is probably trying to block issuance of Christmas and Easter stamps. But let's not be politically incorrect. Our cities are becoming third-world communities with the influx of illegals, because my President favors a "guest worker" program. So, why am I expecting Israelis to march by the millions in protest of what they see happening in their country?
Gaza needs Israeli gas? Now that's really comical. Israel, the size of New Jersey, is constantly denounced as a threat to 22 Arab nations. Combined, these countries are larger than the European Union. Fifty-six Muslim countries that cover almost one-third of the Earth's land mass are unbelievably rich from oil, none of which seems to find its way to Gaza.
Has anyone watched what Fatah and Hamas have been doing to each other? To celebrate the memory of Yasser Arafat, the father of terrorism, a new building was erected as a memorial costing upwards of two million dollars. But the "refugees" dip into the till of the United States Treasury (pardon me, the United Nations Treasury) for more subsidies.
The lack of leadership and the blind stupidity of countries that follow these "leaders" are sucking the strength and energy out of us. Somehow, stupid and crazy has become the norm. To keep on giving and giving and getting nothing in return, not even recognition of the right to exist, is ludicrous. And all the while, they keep demanding more and more. Annapolis? No thank you.
The inept leadership of both the US and Israel must not be allowed to rewrite history. They ignore the lessons of history and are simply going to repeat past mistakes. The Roadmap to Hell had the pretense that it was for peace. Now? The only goal is the creation of a terrorist state whose aim is to destroy its neighbor Israel.
In addition, this state will cost Israel about 90 billion dollars in relocation costs for Jewish citizens. The increased cost of security would put a huge dent in Israel's budget. The Annapolis plans could bring Zionism to an end. Israel as a Jewish State might not survive. Where are the masses? Millions in Israel should be marching to stop this madness.
Let me end on a high note. This year, Islam and Judaism celebrated their holiest holidays by overlapping for ten days. During this time, Muslims racked up 397 dead bodies in 94 terror attacks in ten countries. Jews? We celebrated our 159th Nobel Prize winner. I rest my case.

Remember When 'Leadership' Meant Something?

I've been told that when you get older, you begin to reminisce. That's what's happening to me. I look back and remember when there were real leaders in the USA and especially in Israel. Silly me, that was in the days when columnists were able to write using words that were longer than two or three syllables and knew that their readers were actually able to understand them. Now, we see mindless talking heads in the media and political pundits who look like fashion models deliver one sound bite after another.
I recently had a conversation with a dear friend of mine, a marvelous author and journalist, Jack Engelhard. Neither one of us has been in the mood lately to write the political columns we once happily pounded out on a weekly basis.
Sadly, Jack reminded me during a recent phone call about a conversation we had five or six years ago. With a heavy sigh, he said, "Remember when we thought people actually cared about what we wrote and that our writings could change the world?"
While I nodded my head, he continued, "But, here it is, all these years later, and Olmert is still here, Bush is still here."
Shortly after that, we ended our conversation. What else was there to say? Israel has a man in power with, what, a two, three percent approval rating? Yet, where is the protest? Where are the massive marches?
In the old days, I felt confident that out of 1.6 billion Muslims in the world, there were "moderate" ones who would march and say that the barbaric behavior that their co-religionists have shown us was not the way that they "really" felt? Except the Muslims do feel that way. Surely, there would be some who would want to take to the streets and carry placards saying, "Beheading is a savage act"; "We, as a culture don't agree with the barbaric conduct being shown to the world"; "Terrorist bombings against the innocent are not the way to go!" Forget the Million Man March. How about the fifty men? Women? A parade?
Doesn't matter. Now, I feel the same about the conduct that I see coming out of Israel. Nobody complains. Wait! I take that back! I was astounded to open up my Los Angeles Times last year and see the multitude in Israel who took to the streets to complain about a "gay parade." Maybe if people began to spread the rumor that Ehud Olmert was gay, then the Israeli population would rise en masse and demonstrate. He, and a few others who have taken the Jewish State down the road not to peace, but to hell, ought to be punished for treason.
Are they blind or is it easier to see from across the world that Israel is rendering herself superfluous? Is that what happens when you allow yourself to be led by unethical, ignorant, imbecilic, power-hungry egomaniacs, and don't care enough to take back your own country?
Worse, they have a situation that prevents them from doing so by laws of their own making. Israel is a democracy. Great, but what does it matter when they keep electing the same ten "leaders" over and over for decades. I think the election of Shimon Peres to the presidency was the last straw for me.
No. Actually, I think it was the total lack of interest and cooperation that I experienced from the Israel consulate stateside. Several months ago, in a moment of madness, I had a brain storm. I was tired of responding on radio shows when asked, "Who in Hollywood is supporting Israel?" and all I could say was, "Nobody." Since I have a well-known television celebrity talk show, I decided to gather others and start an organization called "Hollywood Stars Against Global Terrorism" and have them sign a petition supporting Israel.
I had a party to which I invited several industry people and celebrities. Everyone that I invited to my home came, except anyone from the Israeli consulate. Nobody attached to the consulate could find the time or exert the effort to come.
Worse, I had heard about a petition that was signed showing support for Israel when the war in Lebanon broke out. That could be a great nucleus. So, I called the consulate's office - once, twice, three times. Nothing. Finally, six months later, I received an envelope in the mail that contained the names. However, it was too little, too late.
Sadly, I, figured that if the people here who represent Israel were too busy or not interested in such an organization, then why bother?
Here? We complain, but that is also about it.
My neighborhood in Marina Del Rey has always been a lovely beach city, classy, upscale. Aw, but that was before Mr. George Bush and his "open door" and "guest worker" policies for those from across the border. Now, I feel as though I'm living in a Third World nation. Lately, when I open my door I find beer cans. My view, along with the ocean, is now filled with vagrants accosting those passing by.
So, in desperation, a few of us in the neighborhood began a recall petition against the councilmen who have brought this blight to our neighborhood in their push to make a residential neighborhood recreational. Within a couple of days, a thousand people signed the petition - over fifty wanted to come to a meeting to "do something." I went to the store and bought food for fifty and waited... and waited... and waited.... Six neighborhood residents showed up.
The rest - too busy. They wanted to, but, "Hey, just no time," etc. You get the idea. And folks, so did I. I gave up. I will no longer be a neighborhood activist. At this point in time, I just want to rent my condo to a Hare Krishna group or a very large Indian family that makes a lot of curry and let them have my once-beautiful neighborhood.
My neighborhood has let incompetent or corrupt councilmen and women take control. My country has done the same. Hopefully, by the time the upcoming elections roll around someone will take the helm and try to correct the quagmire we are now in.
However, on a much more serious scale, what I once felt was my indestructible "neighborhood" of Israel is sliding into the same apathetic pit of "let somebody else worry about it."
Actually, I'm not just talking about locally, my neighborhood, my country and Israel. My global neighborhood is at risk and in a war with an Islamic culture that is hell-bent on destroying anyone who is not "them." This is a culture of death and destruction determined to rule the world. And we are all sitting on our hands watching the onslaught of darkness.
By the time the darkness overtakes us, it will be too late to protest.

Brothers and Sisters…
Have we forgotten…? Have we forgotten why there is a Jewish State in the first place? Now our youth dodging service in the IDF; our leaders are giving away holy Jewish land with impunity; Olmert and Peres are negotiating and making deals with terrorists and murders; we are betraying our heritage and our identity. Can't we see the writing on the wall?
Olmert and Peres have become a part of the Israeli secular (majority?) who has no love, connection, or interest in the Temple Mount, Jerusalem as our eternal Capital, or Judea and Samaria for that matter. Olmert and Peres could care less what will happen to the Jews who live there. They have their own agenda… and that is to go down in history, along with President George Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as the great peace-makers of our time, and (if their scheming and collaboration succeeds) with a Nobel Peace Prize for their treachery.
It's too bad that there is no prize for traitorous conduct in office, for betraying your country, your people, and your religion... Olmert and Peres would be the undisputable winners. Forget the Knesset, the "Good Old Boy" politicians have chained themselves to their seats and they would rival those of the 1920s in Georgia, Tennessee, or Alabama in the Southern United States. Our MKs are only interested in preserving their own interests and position, not in the "Jewish" future of Israel.
Isn't it about time that the Israelis who "Care" about our heritage; who "Care" about what it means to be a Jew; who care about the future of our children; and who "Care" about keeping Israel a Jewish State rather than a secular abomination stand up and he heard before it's too late? Elections in 2010 are too far away... act now to force new elections or be prepared to be forced out of what was once Israel.
But what do I know... I'm just an old retired Jew who is a disabled Army veteran and who lives in the U.S. I've been told by some that Israel doesn’t need or want any more American Jewish Retirees" making Aliyah. I've been told to "mind my own business". But how can I forget thee O'Jerusalem?? I am still a Jew; I save my shekels all year so I can visit Israel. I give what I can to Jewish causes, I do my best as an activist in a pro-active Jewish organization that protects our interests and people in the Diaspora, oh, and I did fight in the Sinai in October of 1973 with brave men whose love of Hashem, Jerusalem, the Temple Mount, our Heritage, our land, and the future and preservation of our country as a Jewish State and Jewish Homeland still burned within them.
The flame that I witnessed and felt in burning our hearts then must not be allowed to die… to be smothered by those who hold secular interests above the Torah, our people and our destiny.
I want to scream at the top of my lungs “for the love of Hashem and the Jewish people, do not give away our land!” Too much Jewish blood has been shed protecting it... and know this. What is lost can never be recovered in today's world.
Wake up and remember these five principals:

If you have any feelings at all when you hear the words
“NEVER AGAIN” … do your duty to save Israel

I give what I can to Jewish causes, I do my best as an activist in a pro-active Jewish organization that protects our interests and people in the Diaspora, oh, and I did fight in the Sinai in October of 1973 with brave men whose love of Hashem, Jerusalem, the Temple Mount, our Heritage, our land, and the future and preservation of our country as a Jewish State and Jewish Homeland still burned within them.
The flame that I witnessed and felt in burning our hearts then must not be allowed to die… to be smothered by those who hold secular interests above the Torah, our people and our destiny.
I want to scream at the top of my lungs “for the love of Hashem and the Jewish people, do not give away our land!” Too much Jewish blood has been shed protecting it... and know this. What is lost can never be recovered in today's world.

Even the Obvious Needs to Be Stated

The State Comptroller’s report on the Home Front does not tell the public anything it did not know.
Can words be mightier than the sights hundreds of thousands of refugees saw in the North? Can data and conclusions and recommendations be more deafening than the sounds of sirens and explosions? Can the governmental vacuum revealed in the report be emptier than the vacuum in our hearts caused by the absence of 160 war dead?
Seemingly, the Comptroller has not revealed anything new. We read, “The findings elaborated here show that the prime minister, Mr. Ehud Olmert, Amir Peretz, the government ministers, the former chief of staff Dan Halutz, the Home Front commanding officer General Yitzhak Gershon – each of them to his own extent failed seriously in the decision making process, assessments and policy execution in their relating to and dealing with the Home Front during the Lebanese War.” Did we not know all this during the war, even when we still hoped that the IDF would manage to make up for the nullity, carelessness and foolishness of the prime minister and his ministers? Hamas will not discuss Peace
Blogmaster's Comment: This article is taken from Al Jazeera and of course, it will be anti-Israel and U.S. We should take note however that the attitude in the Arab world is that they are talking down to the West from a position of (perceived) increased superiority. They firmly believe that the time has come to destroy Israel and to rid the Arab world of Western influence and interference. We must not fail to recognize the change in the overt attitudes of those whom we have believed to be more "moderate" Arab dictatorships. The time is coming when the Arab world will unite against their common enemies, Israel and the United States. If we fail, as we have failed in the past, to take seriously and properly assess the massive threat against the West, we will suffer grievous consequences with Israel suffering most of all. Be prepared for what is inevitable. The Islamic war against Western Civilization is real and their actions are entirely predictable. Negotiations serve only the interests of the Islamo-Facists and each concession makes them stronger and us weaker. Olmert and the U.S. State Department are repeating the mistakes of Neville Chamberlain. There will be NO PEACE FOR LAND, only Arab lies designed to pick us apart and cause internal strife. Without strong and capable leadership, the future for Israel is grim as is that of the United States and our allies. Israel must stand firm and the U.S. must cease it's kowtowing to the Saudis and other elements seeking to influence the U.S. strategies on the Middle East. There will never be peace in the Middle East as long is Israel is threatened by fanatics on her borders. The U.S. has always subscribed to the philosophy of "Peace through superior firepower", or the use of obvious military strength as a deterrent. This will not work anymore in today’s tumultuous and complicated Middle Eastern political arena. Just as the United States armed the Afghani forces opposing the Soviet Union, now Russia others opposed to the West are arming and supporting our enemies. The storm is on the way and there is no stopping it. We must use what time we have to ready ourselves.

Hamas rejects Bush peace proposal

The Palestinian Hamas movement has rejected a proposal from the US president to relaunch the Middle East peace process with an international conference.
A Hamas spokesman, called George Bush's proposal "part of the US campaign aiming to rally support for Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas in the face of the legitimacy enjoyed by Hamas".
Sami Abu Zuhri said: "Bush promises to work toward the creation of a Palestinian state are false and aim to trick and to put to sleep Palestinian public opinion."
"Hamas repeats its refusal to recognise the occupation or to renounce the resistance as Bush wants," he said on Tuesday.
Bush 'crusade'
Abu Zuhri also called on the Arab Muslim world "to support Palestine in the face of the crusade conducted by Bush."
Ismail Radwan, another Hamas spokesman, said in Gaza: "The conference will lead to increased pressure on Mahmud Abbas and separate the Gaza Strip more deeply from the West Bank while sowing division among Palestinians".
Bush called on Monday for an international conference within months to revive the Middle East peace process.
He said Israel, the Palestinians and their Arab neighbours could do more to help revive Middle East peace prospects.
Bush fell short of calling on Israel to end its 40-year occupation, saying only that "unauthorised outposts should be removed and settlement expansion ended".
'Conditions for peace'
Bush said "the world can do more to build the conditions for peace", adding that Condoleezza Rice, the US secretary of state, would chair the gathering and that attendance would be limited to states that back the creation of a Palestinian state, reject violence, and recognise Israel.

Bush also warned the Palestinians that backing Hamas which seized Gaza from the forces that back Abbas on June 15, would be a victory for the group's "foreign sponsors" in Syria and Iran and "would crush the possibility of a Palestinian state".
His speech at the White House came hours after Ehud Olmert, the Israeli prime minister, met Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president.
Bush told Hamas: "You must stop Gaza from being a safe haven for attacks against Israel. You must accept the legitimate Palestinian government," allow aid to Gaza, disarm militias, and recognise Israel.
Bush also urged Arab nations to end "the fiction that Israel does not exist", curb anti-Israel rhetoric in their media and send cabinet-level officials to the Jewish state.
And he pushed Olmert to continue to release Palestinian tax revenue to Salam Fayyad, the Palestinian prime minister, halt Israeli settlement expansion and dismantle unauthorised outposts.
Commitment to Israel
Israelis "should be confident that the United States will never abandon its commitment to the security of Israel as a Jewish state and homeland for Jewish people", he said.

Bush also hailed the talks between Olmert and Abbas, as a senior Israeli official said that the prime minister had pledged to free 250 Palestinian prisoners in a goodwill gesture to the Palestinian leader.
But while welcoming the release, the Palestinians said the freeing of 250 prisoners out of the more than 11,000 held in Israeli jails was not enough.
Bush also announced a direct US contribution of $80m to help Abbas reform his security services. Two US officials said the money was being shifted from Gaza to Fayyad's government.
More US aid will come when former British prime minister Tony Blair, now the envoy for the Middle East "Quartet" of the US, UN, European Union, and Russia, reports success in building a plan for bolstering Palestinian security and political institutions.
"With the proper foundation, we can soon begin serious negotiations toward the creation of a Palestinian state," said Bush.
Backing Abbas
The Quartet is to meet in Lisbon, the Portuguese capital, on Thursday to take stock after Abbas appointed a new government following the takeover of Gaza by Hamas.
Meanwhile Bush telephoned Abbas on Monday to reaffirm Washington's support for the Palestinian president, a spokesman for Abbas said.
The two men spoke after Bush called for an international conference to revive Middle East peace talks.
"President Bush expressed his support for president Abbas and for efforts to relaunch the peace process through this conference" in the autumn,
Nabil Abu Rudeina told reporters.
"President Bush also expressed his support for the Palestinian government led by Salam Fayyad," he added.

A second rocket landed on the premises of the Kal-Katif factory and damaged a storage container. The al-Quds Martyrs' Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, claimed responsibility for the attacks. Yoav Peled, security officer for the Shaar Hanegev regional council, told Ynet it was a miracle no one was hurt. "The Qassam accelerated when it hit the concrete roof of the elderly couple's home. They were awake when it hit and luckily weren't hurt. Due to the acceleration, the rocket continued on into the neighbors' yard, where it exploded and shattered all the house's windows," Peled said. The couple spent the night at a guest house on the kibbutz where they live, due to the severe damage to their house. They did not need any medical treatment and did not suffer shock.
Alon Schuster, head of the Shaar Hanegev regional council, said, "The Islamic Jihad launched the rocket to tell the prime minister (Ehud Olmert) that time and statistics weren't in his favor. Instead of telling Gaza perimeter residents that there's no such thing as 100 percent security, Olmert should do what he personally promised me and the other council heads – and shield the houses right away."
"It's scandalous. The program has been dragging for six months, and now we hear that it may even be cancelled. I demand of the new defense minister (Ehud Barak) that he join our demands and bring up the matter this Sunday at the cabinet meeting. There are people here whose lives need to be protected," he declared.

Palestinians in Gaza fired two Qassam rockets into the western Negev late Friday, one of which hit the home of an elderly couple.
A third rocket was fired Saturday afternoon and landed in an open area near Sderot. No casualties or damages were reported.

Israel offers the Golan Heights to Syria

The Israeli prime minister has offered to return the Golan Heights to Syria in exchange for peace, the nation's press reported yesterday.
In a secret communique, Ehud Olmert demanded that in exchange for the return of the strategic highlands, Syria dissolve its alliances with Iran, Hezbollah and Palestinian militant factions who maintain headquarters in Damascus. Syria, under the regime of Bashar al Assad, is a key supporter of the Lebanese Shia Hizbollah militia, who battled Israel to a standstill last summer. Many of the anti-tank rockets that wreaked havoc on Israeli ground forces originated in Syria, a crucial conduit for the Iranian Katyushas and other rockets that rained down on Israeli cities throughout the 34-day war. Were Syria to abandon its Shia allies in Lebanon and Iran in exchange for peace with the Jewish state, it would seriously weaken Israel's most potent foes. "I am your partner for making peace between our countries," Mr Olmert told Damascus through German and Turkish mediators, Israel's Yediot Ahranot newspaper reported. "I know that a peace agreement with Syria requires me to return the Golan Heights to Syrian sovereignty. I am willing to fulfil my part in this deal." Mr Olmert reached out to Syria only after America's president George W Bush gave the green light in an hour-long phone conversation last month. The prime minister's office would neither confirm nor deny the reports. Israel and Syria participated in arduous peace talks throughout much of the 1990s. But those efforts collapsed in 2000 amid disagreement over sovereignty of a narrow strip of land near the eastern shore of Lake Kinneret. |
