Cal Thomas: Carter stomps on U.S. foreign policy
JUST what about total annihilation of the Jews by Palestinian, Arab and Muslim people does Jimmy Carter not understand? Mr. Carter's latest leap into the foreign policy breach resulted in his declaring the terrorist organization Hamas had accepted Israel's "right to exist," and would further accept the establishment of a Palestinian state on land occupied by Israel in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, land whose borders had been changed after Israel was attacked by some of the very people who still want the nation's elimination. The working strategy of Israel's enemies is: if at first you don't succeed in killing enough Jews, then try, try again.
Hamas immediately denied Carter's claim it is willing to recognize Israel and introduced the usual caveats about Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian state, "right of return" for "Palestinian refugees" and so forth. We've heard it all before. Israel's and our enemies tell us what we want to hear while continuing their terrorist and murderous acts in order to achieve their objectives.
Carter has a history of believing (and smooching) murderous thugs. He's kissed and/or met with the late Soviet dictator Leonid Brezhnev (Carter expressed surprise that Brezhnev had lied to him about invading Afghanistan in 1979. Memo to Carter: dictators lie and so do totalitarian groups like Hamas); the late Palestinian leader Yassir Arafat, Hamas' political leader, Khalid Mashaal and North Korea's Kim Jong-Il, who he falsely claimed had agreed to suspend his nuclear weapons program. In each of these meetings, Carter has served the interests, not of peace, or of his own country, but the interests of the dictatorial regimes whose prestige has been elevated by the visit of an American ex-president.
The false premise on which all negotiations with Islamic terrorists have been based is that the terrorists lack something that, if they got it, would bring about instant peace, reconciliation and the study of war no more. This is wishful thinking bordering on self-delusion. Despite multiple concessions over many years, peace overtures, goodwill gestures and offering up of land captured from the very people who have tried before and will try again to destroy Israel, many on the political left in Israel, Europe and America cling to the fiction that it is only Israel that is an impediment to "peace."
People who are not fully aware of the poison forced on Muslim and Arab people by their religious and political leaders would do well to take some time and inform themselves. The level of hatred and vilification for all things Jewish, Christian and Western sounds like the stuff out of a Ku Klux Klan handbook. Young children are radicalized in their first school year with appeals that they become martyrs in order to expunge Jewish "filth" from the region and do Allah's will. This is what we and the Jewish people face. If the road to Hell is paved with good intentions, all our good intentions will produce is a superhighway.
Jimmy Carter thinks he is doing God's will by "loving" his enemies. The expectation behind that biblical instruction is that such an act will soften the heart of the enemy. But evil does not respond this way. What evil does is to take these acts (evil people know the commands, too, because they have studied us more than we have studied them) and use such notions to achieve their objectives. They will tell us whatever we want to hear in order to get their way. They believe the Koran allows them to lie to "infidels."
Why won't we understand this? Converts from Islam regularly warn us. Why do we persist in believing their lies when the only thing they have been consistent at is lying? If Carter trusts Hamas, whom else would he trust?
Nothing stinks as badly as a perishable item that has passed its "sell-by" date. That describes Jimmy Carter. His foreign policy was a failure when he was president, most notably his approach to Iran, which toppled that regime and gave us what we face now. Now, as ex-president, he continues to cause damage and undermine his country's foreign policy.
It is said we only have one president at a time. Apparently, Jimmy Carter thinks otherwise.

ISRAEL IS TO BLAME FOR PEACE PROCESS FAILURE...says OBAMA'S MILITARY ADVISOR
Blogmaster's observation:
First, look at the recent stories that we have posted regarding the total bias of the Bush administration in favor of the palestinians. At every juncture, CondiSleeza Rice is pushing and extorting Israel into a more untenable position with regard to Israel's own security. She insists that Israel give land, give concessions, partition Jerusalem, give, give, give...bleed, bleed, and bleed some more!
When her friends in the West Bank want more, she then blames Israel for not doing enough to make the so-called peace process and the roadmap work. The point is, as long as the Israeli flag flies over Jerusalem, Israel will never give enough to satisfy Bush and Rice.
Then there is Obama and his agenda and the not-so-surprising revelations below. The bigger picture is... no matter who is sitting in the White House in 2009, Israel will always be expendable… A pain in the touches of the Arabists who control the U.S. political scene.
Osama’s Military Advisor, General "Redneck" McPeak makes a valid point...that because of the Jewish Lobby in the United States, they have been unable to cut aid to Israel.
Thank G_d for those American Jews who have confounded the anti-Israeli elements within the U.S. State Department, the D.C. power brokers, and U.S. Military Establishment. Without them, the U.S. would have abandoned Israel long ago.
We need to think about the day when the anti-Israel - anti-Jewish sentiment in the U.S. finally succeeds in throwing Israel to the wolves. Can we survive?. What do we have to do to save ourselves? What kind of leadership do we need to guide us through the terribly difficult times that are hiding around the next corner?
Chevera, there is not a lot of time left for discussion or debate; there is not enough room for us to be both politically correct and to survive the attacks certain to come. It almost seems moronic for me to use the cliché “Pray for Peace but Prepare for War!” but that is what is gnawing at my brain.
Let’s use a little logic here… Are we surrounded by hostile neighbors who want to see us dead? Answer: Yes. Is the IDF strong enough today to prevail in a conventional war against the combined strength of our enemies? Answer: Very Doubtful. Can we count on the United States to go to war against the Arab Middle-East to save Israel? Answer: Unknown, but given the current overextended status of U.S. Forces – very doubtful (even if McCain wins the White House in November).
What then, do we have to do to protect Israel and our people?
Now, it’s your turn to answer!

Last week, Barack Obama's military adviser and national campaign co-chairman Merrill "Tony" McPeak accused former President Bill Clinton of "using divisive tactics and unfairly trying to question Barack Obama's patriotism." McPeak, a former chief of staff of the Air Force, previously supported Howard Dean and then John Kerry. He has campaigned for Obama and cut commercials claiming that Obama has the "right stuff" to be Commander in Chief. His job is to burnish Obama's image as a guy tough enough to be President. So who better to go after Bill Clinton and get the Obama campaign back on offense?
In off-the-cuff remarks to reporters Friday he even compared the former president's comments with the actions of Joseph McCarthy, the 1950s communist-hunting senator.
"I grew up, I was going to college when Joe McCarthy was accusing good Americans of being traitors, so I've had enough of it," McPeak said. And last month McPeak had to retract his statement that as president, Obama would not be reduced to "crying fits" like Mrs. Clinton.
Well, it is likely that Obama will soon be having to retract Merrill McPeak. McPeak, who was arrested last year for driving under the influence, apparently has a problem controlling more than his thirst for fermented beverages. He also has a penchant for bashing Israel or, more particularly, Jews who oppose negotiating with terrorists.
McPeak has a long history of criticizing Israel for not going back to the 1967 borders as part of any peace agreement with Arab states. In 1976 McPeak wrote an article for Foreign Affairs magazine questioning Israel's insistence on holding on to the Golan Heights and parts of the West Bank.
In recent years McPeak has echoed the Mearsheimer-Walt view that American Middle East policy is being controlled by Jews at the expense of America's interests in the region. In a 2003 interview with the Oregonian, McPeak complained of that the "lack of playbook for getting Israelis and Palestinians together at...something other than a peace process....We need to get it fixed and only we have the authority with both sides to move them towards that. Everybody knows that."
The interviewer asked McPeak: "So where's the problem? State? White House?"
McPeak replied: "New York City. Miami. We have a large vote -- vote, here in favor of Israel. And no politician wants to run against it."
Translation (as if it's needed): Jews -- who put Israel over every American interest -- control America's policy on the Middle East. And McPeak has the audacity to accuse Bill Clinton of McCarthyism.
McPeak also claims that a combination of Jews and Christian Zionists are manipulating U.S. policy in Iraq in dangerous and radical ways: "Let's say that one of your abiding concerns is the security of Israel as opposed to a purely American self-interest, then it would make sense to build a dozen or so bases in Iraq. Let's say you are a born-again Christian and you think that Armageddon and the rapture are about to happen any minute and what you want to do is retrace steps you think are laid out in Revelations, then it makes sense. So there are a number of scenarios here that could lead you in this direction. This is radical...."
McPeak also noted: "The secret of the neoconservative movement is that it's not conservative, it's radical. Guys like me, who are conservatives, are upset about these neocons calling themselves conservative when they're so radical."
Guys like McPeak are upset because they think Jews have too much influence.
McPeak (in his Oregonian interview) also equated terrorist organizations with neoconservative supporters for Israel:
Interviewer: "Do you think...there's an element within Hamas, Hezbollah, that doesn't want Israel to exist at all and always will be there?"
McPeak: "Absolutely."
Interviewer: "So this is -- this is multilateral."
Instead of discussing Hamas and Hezbollah, McPeak returns to his primary target: Christian and Jews who support Israel:
McPeak: "There's an element in Oregon [sic], you know, that's always going to be radical in some pernicious way, and likely to clothe it in religious garments, so it makes it harder to attack. So there's craziness all over the place. I think there is enough good will on the Israeli side -- I've spent a lot of time in Israel, worked at one time very closely with the Israeli air force as a junior officer, and so -- but that's maybe the more cosmopolitan, liberal version of the Israeli population."
In other words, American policy is the product of "religious Jews and neocons" who in McPeak's mind are just as much to blame for a lack of peace in the Middle East as are Hamas and Hezbollah.
It will be interesting to see how the Obama campaign formulates what should be its latest disavowal and dismissal of yet another anti-Israel and anti-Jewish "adviser."
McPeak's comments are worse than McCarthyism. They reflect the views of Reverend Wright and other Obama advisers who believe that Israel is just a problem to be solved, not an ally to support.
McPeak is not the only member of the Obama campaign who holds such twisted views. Others such as Robert Malley or Zbigniew Brzezinski have found themselves downgraded to "informal" advisers as their anti-Israel views are made public. Samantha Powers was dismissed for calling Hillary a monster, not for sharing McPeak's belief in the malign omnipotence of the "Israel lobby."
Obama has a Jewish problem and McPeak's bigoted views are emblematic of what they are. Obama can issue all the boilerplate statements supporting Israel's right to defend itself he wants. But until he accepts responsibility for allowing people like McPeak so close to his quest for the presidency, Obama's sincerity and judgment will remain open questions.

Yesterday Al Aksa Brigades (that's the group that no longer exists because PA security put them out of business) announced that from Samaria they fired a "Bashaar 1" rocket into Israel. There is no evidence of that rocket. But the announced intention is clear.
A spokesman for the group said they intend to continue to manufacture rockets in Judea and Samaria:
"We are obligated to the path of the (armed struggle), the Fatah movement's path. We won't put our guns down and we'll continue resisting the occupation. Our weapons will continue to be steadfastly pointed towards the Zionist enemy."

Isn't it obvious that the "Palestinians" will never negotiate in good faith.- Isn't it also evident that no one can speak for the Palestinians, and if anyone now has legitimacy, it is the terrorist organization "Hamas" that was not only elected by the Palestinians, but who threw the current Prime Minister out of Gaza?
- Prime Minister Abbas belongs to, and controls Fatah who is no less a terrorist group than Hamas. Why are we negotiating with Abbas when he has stated that his designs on Jerusalem are "non-negotiable"?
Please do not force Israel into any agreement that the Israelis themselves do not want, and will not honor. Prime Minister Olmert is another Jimmy Carter. We view him as an incompetent narcissist who does not speak for the majority of the people of Israel. He is only in office because his cronies in the Kenesset refuse to call for elections out of fear of losing their own seats.
It is abundantly clear that the Arabs surrounding Israel are capitalizing on Israel's perceived weaknesses because of Olmert's failure at Annapolis, the United States insistence on uprooting Jewish homes, and forcing Israel to accept a hostile Arab state cutting her in half.
If the United States continues on this two-faced policy, pretending to be Israel's friend and ally and giving arms and assistance to the Palestinians, Israel will not be able to defend herself.
Olmert is a traitor. The Israel Defense Forces will not follow his orders if they endanger Israeli citizens; i.e. giving the Golan to Syria. (why would anyone want to force Israel into this strategic blunder unless they are pushing for her eventual destruction?)
Another point to consider... no matter what the United States or Olmert says, the Jewish people will not allow the partition of Jerusalem. Such a move, if supported by the IDF, will throw the country into civil war. Do you want something as horrendous to be your legacy as President? I hope not!
Please reconsider your position on a Palestinian State and, on the construction in the "Settlements" (actually bona fide Jewish towns), and in uprooting thousands of Jewish citizens from their homes. Look at the aftermath of the "evacuation" of Gush Katif! Why would you want a repetition of making Jewish citizens refugees in their own country because of nothing other than pressure by you and the State Department (or should I say extortion)?

STATE DEPARTMENT ATTACKS ISRAEL THROUGH CHICAGO TRIBUNE

When the Arabist U.S. State Department goes into full attack mode against Israel and thus American Jews, one must look a little deeper for motive. Generally, when Israel is being set up to be manipulated within the next month or two, the propaganda machine in the bowels of the State Department starts calling in its IOUs from certain flagship journals to do a black bag job on Israel. Newspapers are the main venue and such papers as the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, LA Times, among others are the selected leakers.
Tuesday, October 2nd, the Chicago Tribune went way out of the way to bash Israel on an event that occurred 40 years ago on June 8, 1967 when Israel was fighting for her life against Egypt, Syria, Jordan and other attacking Muslim Arab armies who swore to annihilate the Jewish State. This incident was called the "Liberty Affair".
I was puzzled for a few minutes as to why the Chicago Tribune had devoted a front page with picture, headline, above-the-fold story, plus a full two page spread inside to an event that occurred 40 years ago. The title of the article was "New Revelation in Attack on American Spy Ship". As I read it, there were no new "revelations" but another dredging up of all the emotional interchanges of the time as if it happened yesterday.
The story was replete with carefully selected, provocative photos that the Trib is famous for which are selected to indict and convince the readers that what follows in loaded words must be true.
But, Why Now? Why was the Trib selected as first point media source to anger the American public and Congress against Israel?
THE MOTIVE: Lynching-of-Israel Conference "Middle East Summit" set for November 15th
To begin with I concluded that the timing was selected to build up a head of steam before the Lynching-of-Israel Conference "Middle East Summit" set for November 15th at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Its location was carefully selected so those who would protest would easily be kept out-of-sight and out-of-sound to the delegates.
Israel is set to be pilloried and forced to abandon more than half of Jerusalem to Arafat’s terrorists who are now in the hands of Arafat’s 40 year operations and bag man, companion and financier, Mahmoud Abbas (aka Abu Mazen). During this "Lynching" Israel is also supposed to surrender a large stretch of her ancestral heartland, 100% of Judea and Samaria. This Land, given by G-d to the Jewish people in perpetuity, will shortly be converted into an excellent missile firing position as has been happening in Gaza since 16,000 Jewish men, women and children were evicted from their homes, farms, schools, synagogues and cemeteries two years ago. Sending unmarked surveillance teams into war zones is a risk nations take for whatever their own reasons and motives. They generally do not shout out their identity - mostly because all know an enemy can change flags and markings - depending on who they are trying to trick.
There was concern discussed at the time that this spy ship (the Trib does use that term right out front in its banner headline) was picking up battle information and positions in order to transfer them to Egypt. The claim then was that the Liberty looked like an Egyptian spy ship which was denied in follow-on arguments. It was not anticipated that Israel could possible defeat Egypt, Syria and Jordan in a three-front war.
However, precautions were taken to insure that Israel’s adversaries would have the benefit of additional intelligence so they could maneuver and outflank Israel’s armored forces in the Sinai and Golan Heights. Betraying a friend and ally needed deep cover lest it became public knowledge, affecting politics back in the countries who decided that it would be better for all concerned if Israel were defeated by Muslim Arab countries and the Jewish State simply disappeared. Naturally, there was to be a highly publicized follow-on mission of rescue of those left alive in Israel. That’s called a "Win-Win" in Intelligence parlance. Israel was not supposed to win that war and, no doubt, disappointed her detractors at the State Department.

The hit on the Liberty was finally judged a mistake in identification and the matter was officially closed. However, there were those who dedicated their lives to keeping the matter alive - as seen in this Tribune blast which used statements from sailors on that ship who themselves were not ever in the intelligence loop of "need-to-know" information of the actual mission. No doubt, the argument of fault will continue but, the timing of the Chicago Tribune assault and the placement and date of the coming Mid East Summit is more than a little suspicious.

Third, the timing: Simultaneous with the Jewish community’s biggest meeting of the year, the UJC (United Jewish Communities) General Assembly had already been scheduled for at least a year to be held on November 13-15th in Nashville, Tennessee. Simultaneity is not coincidental. American, Israeli and World Jewry will have to choose which event to attend. Presumably, the Bush Administration will be speaking at this forum to convince the Jewish attendees that giving up Jerusalem, ‘et al’ will somehow guarantee that the Muslim Arab Palestinian Terrorists, the Arab nations and the radical Islamists will cease terror. It is expected that, while Israel is being dissected in Maryland, the Jews attending their G.A. in Tennessee will be applauding the Bush speeches in Annapolis which will be promising "Peace in Our Time".
I have little doubt that we’ll see a sequence of other flag-ship journals and lesser lights picking up the story as it if were today’s hot news. Perhaps the Amanpour series was the real "Kick-off" of State’s preparation to Lynch Israel. CNN is sort of like the New York Times of TV and well connected to State. The title of the article was "New Revelation in Attack on American Spy Ship". As I read it, there were no new "revelations" but another dredging up of all the emotional interchanges of the time as if it happened yesterday.
The story was replete with carefully selected, provocative photos that the Trib is famous for which are selected to indict and convince the readers that what follows in loaded words must be true.
But, Why Now? Why was the Trib selected as first point media source to anger the American public and Congress against Israel?

Blogmaster's two shekles worth: I think that the conviction of someone spying for the People's Republic of China and stealing sensitive military secrets and equipment to enhance China's military capabilities is a supurb peace of work. Where my stomach turns is the Plea-bargain that gets this putz only two years behind bars. Think about it.... this guy Ming gets a lousy 2 years for giving military secrets to a proven adversary of the U.S. and the West. AND FOR VIOLATING THE ARMS EXPORT CONTROL ACT
First Conviction in the Country Involving Source Code Under the Arms Export Control Act
WASHINGTON– Xiaodong Sheldon Meng, 42, formerly a resident of Beijing, China, and resident of Cupertino, Calif., pleaded guilty yesterday to violating the Foreign Economic Espionage and violating the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), announced Assistant Attorney General for National Security Kenneth L. Wainstein and Scott N. Schools U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of California.
The defendant entered into a plea agreement whereby he pleaded guilty to Count Five (EEA) and Count Seven (AECA) of a superseding indictment that had been filed on December 13, 2006.
Count Five charged that Meng violated the EEA by possessing a trade secret belonging to Quantum3D, a San Jose company by whom he was formerly employed, intending and knowing that this possession would benefit a foreign government, instrumentality, or agent, namely the People’s Republic of China ("PRC") Navy Research Center.
The trade secret at issue, known as "Mantis," is a Quantum3D product used to simulate real world motion for military training purposes. Meng installed a demonstration unit of Mantis on the PRC Navy site. Meng also altered Mantis to make it appear as if it belonged to ORAD, Meng’s new employer, a competitor of Quantum3D based in PRC. This altered version of Mantis was included as part of the demonstration project in the PRC.
Count Seven charged that defendant Meng knowingly and willfully violated the AECA and ITAR when he exported "viXsen" source code, a Quantum 3D product that is a designated defense article on the United States Munitions List, and for which Meng had no Department of State export license. viXsen is a visual simulation software program used for training military fighter pilots.
United States Attorney Scott N. Schools noted that this prosecution is the result of a nearly three-year joint investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office Computer Hacking and Intellectual Property (CHIP) Unit, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) - Office of Investigations, as well as Customs & Border Protection (CBP). The Department of State and the Department of Defense also provided valuable assistance on the case.
"This conviction, the first in the nation for illegal exports of military-related source code, demonstrates the importance of safeguarding our nation’s military secrets and should serve notice to others who would compromise our national security for profit," said Assistant Attorney General for National Security Kenneth L. Wainstein. "This case is the latest evidence of the Department’s enhanced investigative and prosecutorial efforts to keep America’s critical technology from falling into the wrong hands."
"One of ICE’s top priorities is ensuring that U.S. military products and sensitive technology does not fall into the hands of those who might inflict harm upon America or its allies," said Julie L. Myers, Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for ICE. "These items, such as the proprietary source code stolen and altered by the defendant in this case, are controlled in the interest of national security. We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners and industry to enforce U.S. technology export laws."

First Conviction in the Country Involving Source Code Under the Arms Export Control Act
WASHINGTON– Xiaodong Sheldon Meng, 42, formerly a resident of Beijing, China, and resident of Cupertino, Calif., pleaded guilty yesterday to violating the Foreign Economic Espionage and violating the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), announced Assistant Attorney General for National Security Kenneth L. Wainstein and Scott N. Schools U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of California.
The defendant entered into a plea agreement whereby he pleaded guilty to Count Five (EEA) and Count Seven (AECA) of a superseding indictment that had been filed on December 13, 2006.
Count Five charged that Meng violated the EEA by possessing a trade secret belonging to Quantum3D, a San Jose company by whom he was formerly employed, intending and knowing that this possession would benefit a foreign government, instrumentality, or agent, namely the People’s Republic of China ("PRC") Navy Research Center.
The trade secret at issue, known as "Mantis," is a Quantum3D product used to simulate real world motion for military training purposes. Meng installed a demonstration unit of Mantis on the PRC Navy site. Meng also altered Mantis to make it appear as if it belonged to ORAD, Meng’s new employer, a competitor of Quantum3D based in PRC. This altered version of Mantis was included as part of the demonstration project in the PRC.
Count Seven charged that defendant Meng knowingly and willfully violated the AECA and ITAR when he exported "viXsen" source code, a Quantum 3D product that is a designated defense article on the United States Munitions List, and for which Meng had no Department of State export license. viXsen is a visual simulation software program used for training military fighter pilots.
United States Attorney Scott N. Schools noted that this prosecution is the result of a nearly three-year joint investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office Computer Hacking and Intellectual Property (CHIP) Unit, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) - Office of Investigations, as well as Customs & Border Protection (CBP). The Department of State and the Department of Defense also provided valuable assistance on the case.
"This conviction, the first in the nation for illegal exports of military-related source code, demonstrates the importance of safeguarding our nation’s military secrets and should serve notice to others who would compromise our national security for profit," said Assistant Attorney General for National Security Kenneth L. Wainstein. "This case is the latest evidence of the Department’s enhanced investigative and prosecutorial efforts to keep America’s critical technology from falling into the wrong hands."
"One of ICE’s top priorities is ensuring that U.S. military products and sensitive technology does not fall into the hands of those who might inflict harm upon America or its allies," said Julie L. Myers, Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for ICE. "These items, such as the proprietary source code stolen and altered by the defendant in this case, are controlled in the interest of national security. We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners and industry to enforce U.S. technology export laws."

The U.S. Congress in consort with the Pentagon has blocked the purchase of the F-22 Fighter to Israel. The F-22 is the newest and best stealth combat fighter aircraft in the United States arsnel. It will ultimately replace the ageing F-15s in service with the U.S. Military.
Legislation was passed by the House Appropriations Committee specifically prohibiting the sale of the Fighter outside the United States. Israel had been negotiating with the Pentagon to purchase the Jet Fighter in order to maintain air superiority over hostile Arab countries. The Pentagon officially rejected the Israeli request to procure the F-22 (this preceded Congressional action to prohibit the sale to any foreign power). Japan had also been in discussions regarding its desire to purchase the F-22.
This is another blatant example of how the United States is keeping its heel on Israel. One must note that as a precondition of the sale to Israel of the now outdated F-15 Fighters and other U.S. combat aircraft, Israel is specifically prohibited from make any modifications to the aircraft that would upgrade or otherwise increase or improve their combat capabilities. This restriction remains in place while the Arabs have no such restrictions placed upon them regarding their purchase of American weaponry and technology. With the completion of the recently announced twenty billion dollar arms sale to "moderate" or "friendly" Arab countries, the balance of military power in the region is tilting dramatically against the Israel Defense Forces.
Little, if any, backlash or opposition to this decision is expected in the U.S. by the American Jewish Community which is largely comprised of liberal leftist Democrats, many of whom openly oppose Israel and support the Palestinian cause.
Each stumbling block placed before Israel's ability to defend herself only strengthens her enemies. Israel has become the sacrificial lamb to, in the greatest tradition of Neville Chamberlain, appease the Arabs and continue the flow of Crude to the West. What more must we suffer at the hands of the Islamo Nazis before the West realizes that promises, agreements, treaties, and the like made by the Arab/Islamic world are worthless prevarications, designed only to weaken the West and strengthen their world-wide Jihadist ambitions?

A former U.S. Marine and FBI analyst was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for espionage charges in connection with stealing classified national defense documents from the White House, the FBI, the Department of Defense, and the U.S. Department of State.
Leandro Aragoncillo, 48, received his sentence on Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Newark, N.J. A release from the Department of Justice noted that there is no parole in the federal system, and Aragoncillo, who also was fined $40,000, can be expected to serve nearly the entire sentence except for potential "good-inmate" credits.
Aragoncillo used text messages, Web-based e-mail accounts and database queries to pull off the espionage. But it was the same technology that helped the government track him down and build a case against him. The e-mails sent, the phone calls made, and the stolen information archived on a set of CDs all left a digital trail that was his ultimate undoing.
"Those charged with protecting the nation have a special responsibility to maintain their oath of loyalty to the United States," said Kenneth L. Wainstein, Assistant Attorney General for National Security, in a statement. "As a former U.S. Marine and FBI analyst, Aragoncillo betrayed that oath, violated our espionage laws, and now must suffer the consequences of his actions."
Aragoncillo's case marks the first time in modern history that someone has been charged with spying out of the White House .
The man who was a career Marine and had served under two vice presidents in the White House had pled guilty to stealing information in an attempt to foster a political coup in the Philippines, his home country. At his plea hearing last year, Aragoncillo admitted that he regularly transferred to his Philippine contacts national security documents classified as Secret. He also admitted traveling to the Philippines in January 2001 to meet his co-conspirators, including a visit to the Malacanang Palace, the official residence of the president of the Philippines.
In 2005, federal agents executed search warrants on the houses of Aragoncillo and his U.S.-based conspirator, Michael Ray Aquino, a resident of the Philippines who was in the country on a visa. Both men were arrested after agents found more than 736 classified documents between the two homes.
The arrests marked the end of what prosecutors called a "criminal conspiracy against the United States that spanned the globe, involved the theft of classified national defense documents" from the White House, the FBI, the Department of Defense and the U.S. State Department. The scheme included a group of conspirators who ranged from the former Marine turned FBI analyst to an ousted Philippine president to a foreign intelligence officer on the lam from double murder charges.
"The sentencing of Leandro Arangoncillo brings to a close a harmful and disgraceful story of how a formerly trustworthy FBI employee and U.S. Marine can turn into an enemy of the American people and the American way of life," said FBI Special Agent in Charge Weysan Dun, in a written statement. "Aragoncillo and his cohort, Michael Ray Aquino, have come full circle in the justice system, and for them the circle ends at a federal penitentiary."

Never in our recorded history have so many Intelligence Agencies, the Military and the Politicians conspired to keep one man in jail. Their zeal verges on mass hysteria which is so blatant it makes one wonder if they are anxious to protect the United States - or themselves.
Jonathan Pollard betrayed a trust - or did he? He gave Israel information about Soviet supplied weapons to Iraq, Syria, Libya and other Arab countries, including NBC (Nuclear, Biological and Chemical) materials and missile technology to deliver it. According to several prior MOUs (Memorandums of Understanding) including 1983 by a long line of American Presidents and Congress, this vital information was to be shared with Israel as part of American policy to insure Israel's defensive viability against a host of surrounding hostile Arab countries.
And yet powerful men like Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger and Admiral Bobby Ray Inman, Deputy CIA Director embargoed this life and death information from Israel. Inman was enraged by Israel's bombing of the Iraqi nuclear reactor at Osirak in 1991 and from that point on, deliberately withheld this information from Israel. Weinberger tried to insure a "Level Playing Field" for the combined Arab confrontation States arrayed against Israel. (What exactly was the Weinberger - Inman relationship with Saddam which enraged them.)
Caspar Weinberger revealed his knowledge of Saddam Hussein's intentions to use gas capability against Israel during a radio interview which we heard during the first SCUD attack on Israel, January 18,1991. Weinberger said: "It's a shame that Saddam is using poison gas against Israel." In 1983 when Pollard protested the embargo of this information from Israel, he was told by his superiors: "Don't tell the Jews. They're too sensitive about gas." Weinberger's secret memorandum to Judge Aubrey Robinson before his sentencing of Pollard to "Life with No Parole" has never been shown to any of Pollard's lawyers, violating American justice of the defendant's rights to confront his accusers. We know from Justice Arthur Goldberg's admission that Weinberger falsely accused Pollard of spying for South Africa to enrage Judge Robinson (who is black).
After the US government abrogated its plea agreement with Pollard, they locked him down in solitary first in a prison for criminally insane and then at Marion Illinois' maximum security prison for over 7 years. He is now in his 14th year of prison (Now 21 Years) - 4 times what others who spied for allies received. Clearly, the conditions of lock-down were more than to keep him isolated and more like an effort to break him, possibly ending in a staged suicide.
Whenever the American and Israeli people, the Congress and the Knesset have moved in unity to urge commutation of Pollard's sentence to time served or for any kind of leniency against his sentence of "Life with No Parole", the Intelligence community has arisen in a vast coordinated movement to stop it. By now the punishment has gone beyond any imprisonment of any spy, particularly one who warned an ally that Saddam Hussein was building up his NBC (Nuclear, Biological and Chemical) arsenals - with Israel as his first target. Several spies for enemies like the Soviet Union have been released after 4, 6, 9 and 19 years (of a 40 year sentence) respectively. The maximum sentence for spying for an ally is 10 years, the median sentence is 2-4 years or nothing.
Was the release of Jonathan Pollard after 14 years a risk to the nation years after the secrets were stale? Or were these same Intelligence Agencies, Presidents, Vice Presidents, Defense Secretaries acting so maliciously because of their own risk of exposure as co-conspirators in a nefarious plan to eliminate an ally, Israel, whose presence disturbed their Arab oil market clients? Angelo Codevilla, professor of International Studies at Boston University and former Naval Intelligence officer served on the staff of the US Senate Select Committee on Intelligence during the Pollard arrest and conviction. He has written that: "Some US intelligence experts say the Intelligence community in Washington no longer opposes Pollard's release. The group that wants to keep Pollard in jail consists mostly of those who dealt with the case in the mid 1980s: Weinberger, Bobby Ray Inman and the US prosecutors [possibly one desperate former President]. It is a straightforward political matter.
"In briefings to the Senate Committee, US officials never claimed that Pollard gave intelligence methods and sources to Israel. Instead, he relayed data, analysis and photographs - the sort of material that Israel had received from the US. Pollard angered US government leaders by his effort to undermine what he regarded as a pro-Iraqi policy by Washington. The US policy of aiding Iraq was a disastrous policy which led to the Gulf War. The authors of that policy were Shultz, Weinberger and Inman." "Inman said they [the Israelis] had used US satellite pictures to plan the bombing [of Osirak]..and had harmed sophisticated US efforts to build an important relationship with Saddam. Therefore, he [Inman] personally cut Israel off from satellite information about Iraq and later began to send satellite pictures to Saddam." (1)
George Bush, then VP (former Director of the CIA) and Jim Baker (Reagan's Treasury Secretary) were deeply involved in manipulating the Reagan administration's buildup of Iraq, a policy they continued as President and Secretary of State until the day Saddam invaded Kuwait. And, since Bush ended his Desert Storm after only 4 days on the ground, allowing Saddam and his top Revolutionary Army to survive, facilitating his transfer of 100 jets to Iran (later shipped to Syria), one wonders about their complicity in building Saddam's Weapons of Mass Destruction and responsibility for its eventual victims. This includes victims of the Gulf War - as well as those casualties of Saddam's poison gas attacks against Iran and his own Kurdish citizens.
Another question begging for an answer: Was Saddam given President Bush and Sec. of State Baker's approval to invade Kuwait, to take its $80 billion in assets so Saddam could continue his massive purchases of weapons and continue fulfilling our aberrant foreign policy? According to reports, US Amb. April Glaspie under orders from Baker, told Saddam "the US wasn't interested in his border disputes." This was the "green light" for Saddam to invade Kuwait.
Saddam still claims Kuwait Iraq's sovereign territory. So it's not over yet. Thanks to Bush/Baker's premature halt to the first Gulf War and to Clinton's wimpy occasional bombing, Saddam is still the power and threat to the Middle East. Denials notwithstanding, Col. Scott Ritter disclosed that Secretary of State Albright had interfered with UNSCOM's surprise inspections to avoid a political confrontation with Saddam in order to continue our foreign policy to protect him. (2) Is it OK for the CIA to spy in Iraq today in order to expose Saddam's NBC arsenal, but in 1984 it wasn't OK for Pollard to blow the whistle on Saddam's intention to eliminate Israel? Saddam declared that he would "burn half of Israel" - and he had the weapons from the West to do it.
For years Pollard's accusers hinted mysteriously that he had done terrible things such as betraying the intelligence methods and identities of American spies in the Soviet Union. But, lo and behold, the spy who did this turned out to be a deep and powerful CIA mole who himself created the disinformation against Pollard because he was in charge of that brief. Aldridge (Rick) Ames, chief of the CIA's Soviet/Eastern Europe counterintelligence, was convicted of the very crimes for which he accused Pollard and which precipitated the deaths by execution of at least 34 of these American and allied agents in the Soviet Union. Ames identified 55 clandestine US and allied operations in the Soviet Union, thus causing the deaths of many others.
However, even after Ames was revealed as the spy and mole who caused these deaths by his leaks to the USSR, Pollard was then and is still being falsely accused by the Intelligence Agencies of Ames' crimes. Pollard has been wrongfully blamed for the deeds of a CIA Director (Ames) who had for years transferred every secret he could lay his hands on. One can understand why the present CIA Director, George Tenet tasked to improve the image of the CIA, would threaten to resign if Pollard were released. The coverup of the CIA failure was to be erased from the American mind by keeping Pollard as their permanently jailed scapegoat.
According to former Justice Department attorney John Loftus, "In order to hide his own espionage for the Russians, Rick Ames successfully point the finger of suspicion at Pollard for the spate of serious leaks that crippled US networks inside the Soviet Union." How does Loftus know? He cites: "recent disclosures in the ‘intelligence community'. Several investigations from the CIA and NIS (Naval Investigative Service) have made sheepish admission that Pollard was the victim of hysterical over-reaction." The first key to this turnaround, says Loftus, is "the recent confession of CIA agent Ames that he (not Pollard) was responsible for leaking top level secrets to the Kremlin." Loftus quotes Naval Intelligence sources as admitting that "90 percent of the things we accused [Pollard] of stealing, he didn't even have access to." (3)
John Loftus wrote in "Secret War Against the Jews: How Western Espionage Betrayed the Jewish People 1920-92" that "Pollard had little access either to communications intercepts or satellite data , let alone secret NSA codes. His primary access US Navy data banks on ocean shipping. His private focus was on arms shipments to terrorists." Which, according to Loftus, "is where the ugly truth lies. Pollard noticed a pattern of vessels back and forth from Greece to Yemen, where the PLO had a major base. Summer of 1984 the Israelis tipped off the Greek authorities to seize an entire shipload of arms destined for the PLO. Neither Pollard nor Israel was aware that they had smashed George Bush's first shipment of arms to Iran. The British Secret Service had arranged the Greek shipment to ransom American hostages held in Lebanon. Pollard never realized that he had busted the most secret White House operation of modern times. The summer 1984 Greek shipment was a dagger over George Bush's head. The Greek shipment in 1984 exposes the entire White House coverup." (4)
Jerry Agee, Pollard's superior in Naval Intelligence told Wolf Blitzer, he and another colleague were suspicious of the number of classified documents Pollard was taking home with him. They concluded that the information was almost certainly going to Israel. As the materials dealt with Soviet weapons systems and Arab military capabilities, it was not something the Soviets would be interested in. As Agee said to Blitzer: "It didn't take a fool to find out that the Soviets were not buying back all their own information." (5)
Now, with President Clinton about to commute Pollard's sentence, the Intelligence, Military and Justice Department communities have become frantic. As a desperate measure they released, through a journalist who was fed the "correct" information, the great secrets that Pollard was to have transferred.
On January 11, the deadline day of Clinton's promised clemency decision, an article was printed in the NEW YORKER by Seymour Hersh. Of course, the article was cooked and planted by the same Intelligence Agencies, and "leaked" it to a journalist known for his susceptibility for sensational stories. Of course, Seymour Hersh is known for gullibly accepting the disinformation, including rumors, he propagates in the Pollard chapter of his book "The Samson Option." Hersh gains much profit by the credibility the NEW YORKER article lends to his reputation and his book. But, Hersh is thought to be an ‘empty vessel' into which the disinformation entities pour their vitriol.
What is so outrageous about the NEW YORKER article is that Hersh drowns his listener in what even he calls "Tom Clancy" stuff - details and extrapolations of technical espionage that the US carries on against friends and allies alike. He fails to footnote, uses numerous "unnamed" sources: and quotes all the defamatory false accusations we've seen piled up against Pollard since 1985. One man he does quote by name is a former convict, now journalist. However, in alia, Hersh reveals that the US does indeed spy on its friends and allies, including especially Israel. Nothing is mentioned regarding US transfer of this information to such nations as Saudi Arabia, Syria or Iraq - consistent with an aberrant foreign policy pushed by special oil interests.
And, of course, in this day of the Internet and instant communications, it simultaneously appears in the NEW YORK TIMES: "US Now Tells of Must Deeper Damage by Pollard Than Thought" by Tim Weiner and repeated in the JERUSALEM POST: "Pollard Stole 10-volume Intelligence ‘Bible'", etc. They threw in every false accusation printed before and made up now for "effect" - to scare off those members of Congress, Knesset,
American and Israeli publics who smell a collective rat. Most have appeared before and been refuted:
Volume of material: an absurdity. He would have needed a moving van on several occasions. Inveterate liar: (9 months of polygraphs proved Pollard told the truth.) Cocaine abuser: Accuser a convicted felon. Disproved along with spurious and salacious charges of alcoholism and homosexuality. A test for drug use by a private physician was negative. Strangely, that medical file disappeared.
These now-to-be released "secrets" of what Pollard was to have stolen include a "10 Volume Directory of electronic frequencies and signals intercepted by the NSA (National Security Agency - the US primary electronic eavesdropping service and its biggest espionage entity) which listens to every nation in the world. Hersh admits there is no documented proof for the accusations leaked to him.
But, if this was that important, why hadn't the Soviets tasked Aldridge Ames to secure these volumes. Clearly, Ames had the highest level of security rating and access to this information years earlier. It would seem that our Intelligence Agencies, in an effort to keep hidden some of their ugly work against Israel, huddled and thought up a number of chilling scenarios which they could feed to the President (distracted by his own personal trials) and the American citizens via the media to justify their unjust continued imprisonment of Pollard. But, mostly they acted to assure their own personal safety and continued employment.
Have our President, Military Intelligence, CIA, NIA, NSA or politicians every lied to us? You bet. Do Politicians lie? Examine the Iran/Contra and Iraq-gate lies. Yes, indeed, these people are following the psychology explained by Carl Jung, wherein you blame your victim for what you are about to do to him.
"They" are telling us Pollard committed "Treason" (which he was never accused of nor indicted for). But, it was "They" who aided Saddam to build up his NBC arsenal, that, according to VP Al Gore, could kill off all the people on Earth. The "They" who should be questioned includes, among others: George Bush, Caspar Weinberger, Bobby Ray Inman, prosecutor Joseph Di Genova, George Shultz, James Baker, Brent Scowcroft, and various heads of the Intelligence Agencies and Justice Departments during the 1980s and 1990s. They have been aided and abetted by willing journalists, always eager for the scoop and sensation that gets them and their papers or TV/radio stations profits and good ratings.
The great American nation and its wonderful people have been an example to the world in its humanity for others. True, we have our crooks, our dirty politicians, our murderers and rapists - like all other nations. The problem is that as a super-power, we attract the power brokers who believe they know best. We find them often at the highest levels of government and in our Intelligence Agencies. They all believe they are doing right for the country and themselves by using any means - illegal or unethical - to a achieve their goals. They know the American people would not approve of their methods and so they go underground.
"They" tell us Pollard is guilty of crimes not originally spoken about during his "in camera" hearing. Pollard never had a trial. He gave up his right to a trial because they promised his ill wife Anne better treatment with no prison term and a light sentence for Pollard. The government broke its plea agreement and Pollard received a life sentence. Let us then have an open, fair trial where his accusers can openly charge Pollard and then have their accusations tested by lawyers who know to dig out the facts from this reluctant cabal bent on keeping themselves out of the docket and possibly jail. Let the liars lie under oath and we'll see where it leads.
Some may recall the hearing at an Appeals Court where three judges heard some of the evidence. Two concluded on a technicality that it was too late for such a trial. One was Ruth Bader Ginsberg who shortly thereafter was appointed to the Supreme Court. But the third Judge Stephen Williams said that "This was a gross miscarriage of justice." No, he did not receive an appointment to higher position.
So, we have an amoral President, a twisty State Department, Intelligence Agencies who will do anything to achieve their goals and cover their backsides, certain industrialists connected to Arab oil and their markets - all seemingly coalesced to assure that this one man stays in prison til he dies. You have to wonder why.
The true story of the Wye fiasco was exposed by Kenneth Timmerman. "Apparently, at 4 am on Friday at the Wye Plantation President Clinton agreed to a request - not from Mr. Netanyahu but from PLO Chairman Yassir Arafat - to release Pollard as part of a prisoner exchange to get Israel to drop its demand that Israel extradite the 36 Palestinians wanted on terrorism charges. The key terrorist of the 36 was the commander of the Palestinian Police, Ghazi Jabali. Arafat wanted to exchange Pollard for Jabali. President Clinton agreed. Several hours later, after the CIA jawboned him, he back out. And when Mr. Netanyahu balked at Clinton's reversal, Clinton threatened the US would recognize a unilateral declaration of Palestinian statehood in May - the equivalent of dropping a nuclear weapon on Netanyahu and his supporters." (6) Of course, the head of the CIA, George Tenet had to threaten to resign to achieve this full score effect.
This sounds like the Dreyfus Affair, except that Pollard readily admits his guilt for transferring vital intelligence to Israel and has often expressed deep remorse. However, his accusers seem to have adopted a plan to elevate Arab military power to a level that could wipe out Israel.
Pollard was not charged with nor convicted for treason but it is highly probable that his accusers may have committed treason and are now desperately trying to cover up their black deeds.
